What can I expect from orientation this summer?
Incoming 6th graders will cycle through 6 sessions in 30-minute intervals. TCMStrong student leaders serve as mentors to 6th graders throughout the year and will be their guides during this event.

Session 1: Students will meet with the Counseling staff to discuss schedules and services provided through the Counseling Department.

Session 2: Students will receive their school issued device and receive a brief technology orientation from the Instructional Technology Leader. NOTE: Parents MUST complete the tech form and sign the acceptable use policy PRIOR to this day. If this step is not complete, students will not be able to get their devices at orientation.

Session 3: Students will visit the library and our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Lambert, will give a tour and explain how the library is organized, how students can check out books, and how to use the library during study hall and WIN times.

Session 4: TCMStrong student leaders will take students on a building tour.

Session 5: TCMStrong student leaders will take students to their lockers and give them several opportunities to practice opening their locker.

Session 6: TCMStrong student leaders will lead teambuilding activities within their small group.
What is TCMStrong?
TCMS Strong is a mentor program between sixth grade students and eighth grade student leaders.

TCMStrong student leaders work with WIN classes throughout the year forming relationships with students through community building activities. As mentors, they facilitate conversations that assist sixth graders in acclimating to middle school.

Student leaders apply to this program and embody the Brighton Believes qualities of integrity, respect, responsibility, kindness and self-control.
When will I find out who my teachers are?
Usually around August 20th!
Finding Lockers and Classes
We expect that students will struggle with lockers and finding classrooms in the first few weeks.  There will be teachers in the hallways waiting to help students find their classes or open their lockers.

Teachers are also very understanding when students arrive late to class while still learning the building. TCMStrong student mentors are also available throughout the building to help.

Feel free to come in before the first day of school to practice with a lock. Once school starts, you can also come after the school day ends to practice.
