Hatfield Marine Science Center Estuary Investigation

Being a citizen scientist is always good because its important to have diffrent veiws from diffrent angles and brains. You also want normal people trying experiments so you can get diffrent results from diffrent people. Its also good for people to promote your learning by telling your friends. 

Small businesses like this are important because it supports local corporations instead of big companies. By supporting small companies you are supporting the owners that work hard to provide their great service for you to have as good of an experience as possible!

My group started off well, and I think our group is a good team because syd is a good leader and niko is a good reader. I think oneof our advantages are running because we don&apos;t give up and even though me and Kaia had really bad cramps we kept running. We also worked together by being kind and good at communication. I think that these activities are a good chance for us to collaborate and solve blems together as a team.

Many thick substances like lotions, fish sauce, and ice cream have plankton in them. It is used as a thickener.

I like this video because I timelapsed  us driving over this bridge. It was cool because I had never gone on sutch a long bridge and I spotted a huge sealion!

Depoe Bay is known as the worlds smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of japan.

You cannot bring rocks home from yaquina bay because it’s an irreplaceable source and they are uncommon.

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

Similar to our other projects like consequences of colonization I noticed that allot of the information in the museum was about the for trade. When the Europeans came over to America the indigenous (Chinook)started to trade bever furs but later they lost their glory, and they started to hunt otters (whitch have fur that are similar to beavers) they would price them at a higher profit compared to the other fur they harvested like seal and beaver. in return the europeans traded Tabaco and copper.

Since Oregon is close to the coast and surf is common tsunami‘s can happen in case an earthquake occurs. The tsunami machines are a good way to make people aware of tsunami‘s, help people learn about them.

Wolf haven is important because there are very few wolf sanctuary’s that aren’t zoos. Places like wolf haven put the wolves priorities fist and make shure the wolves are happy. They also don’t capture them from the wild ,only if they need help they or they can’t live in the wild alone will they then bring them to the sancuarey.  Also unlike zoos they will try to relise the wolves if it is possible. Though most times it is not because they take in the wolves due to usually a tramatic past like losing their mother meaning they can’t live in the wild. Wolf sanctuaries also try to help diffrent species of wolves that are endangered for example many breeds of wolves like red wolves and Mexican wolevs almost went extinct with around ten of them on the wild during the 1970s. Today the wolf sancuareys have helped grow the population with hundrads of wolves in sancareys that can hopefully be released into the wild so they can grow the wild population of wolves. I think that places like wolf haven love wolves and want them to be happy and have a healthy population for generations to come.

The prosses Tillamook goes through to make their cheese

At Fort Stevens, we were very lucky because we got to experience a tour that is not available to the public. We also learned a lot about the war and the forts the Americans made. We also got to have a really cool experience when we got to see the reenactors, and since they only come a couple times a year this was really special to see we learned a lot of things about the war and the different jobs people had like the medical people.This was really cool to see because most of the items were from the time of the war, they even had a functioning JEEP from World War II! overall I’ve learned a lot from this experience.

The reason that farmers started making cheese in Oregon was because of the wet and cold climate, made healthy and nice grass for the cows which made good and healthy cheese and other dairy products. This is what created tillamook.

Hatfield Marine Science Center Speedy Science

For this experiment our criteria was male versus female. We set it up in a ramp with two sponges on the side to time them. our hypothesis was that females would be faster, and we were correct.

This was my first time having Dairy Queen fries

I would definitely not cross the bar! I get really motion sick so I would probably be sick the entire time. I also would be terrified of the waves and capsizing. the bar seems like a terrifying experience and it is definitely not for me!

The weather conditions in yaquina head were harsh and tough to navigate for many years. It was nearly impossible to build the lighthouse at the time because of the weather. lots of the materials for the lighthouse had to be transported by sea because of the road conditions whitch lead to some materials being lost. Because of the weather this lighthouse took nearly two years to build. The light was remodelled in 1966 and removed in 1982. when the new automated light system was installed it lost some of its history.

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

One of the challenges my group had was our design, because of the shortage of pipes we had. It was also a bit hard because we had to redo our design multiple times because of this. We overcame this problem because we trying and we didn’t  give up.  At the end we didn’t have that mutch time to test our ROV  because we finished late but I think our magnet picked up a fork.  If i could redo this I would get the pieces to build it after we had a completed design so we wouldn’t have to redo it so many times and we would have more time to make it.
