Honestly, I would not cross the bar. It’s not the risk, I just have no reason to. In a hypothetical terms I might consider it if I absolutely had to.

Tillamook Cheese Factory and Izzy’s Buffet

When Tillamook was founded, they founders needed the richest, and healthiest land they could get their hands on at the time. They chose the Tillamook farmland in southern Oregon as their farming and production site. To this day, Tillamook strives to have one of the richest farmlands in Oregon, a perfect environment for livestock, harvest, and dairy production. 

The Astoria Column is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a frieze that depicts American history.

I am excited to see a red fox during this trip because they are my one of my favourite northwestern animals. I have only see three wild red foxes before, and they were all silhouettes. I am really hoping that I won’t just see a shadow and that I may be lucky enough to see the foxes face clearly.

Hatfield Marine Science Center: R.O.V. Challenge

I believe that smaller businesses like High Life are important to smaller communities for economical purposes. When a small business creates local tourism for a small community, other local businesses benefit.

This is definitely one of my favourite pictures from Fort Stevens Military Base because I really enjoy learning about war history. Although I didn’t get many pictures of the fort itself, I had fun having a photo shoot with Ben in the trees near the machine gun nest and jetty trail, before our first quest, (one of my favourites)!!!

On the boat tour I learned a fairly interesting fact that shocked me. I learned after seeing a grey whale, that the 45ft animal was swimming in 25-30ft of water. Honestly I never really comprehended the difference in depth from open ocean and bay areas such as Newport. I had always figured that the ocean was waaayyyy deeper than 25-30ft, therefore it really did shock me to hear that fact.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor worldwide. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan.

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

When the first colonist arrived from Europe I believe that the First Nations of North America were effected greatly by there arrival in good ways and bad. I believe that the First Nations had a particularly different view on the world before the first European colonists came. When they came the First Nations were stripped from their local communities as European colony’s attempted to claim the land. Who really knows if the First Nations understood that there were other empires, colonies, and tribes out in the world other than the ones that they locally traded with, communicated, and even fought with before the Europeans came. Many years after the first settlements Europeans headed west and colonized the West Coast including Oregon Washington and up towards what is now British Columbia. During that time the fur trade was the biggest economical empire worldwide. For those living in Oregon and even Southern Washington this meant big money. In each of these ways the First Nations were effected by the Europeans.

This is the wild and majestic Holly becoming one with the form of a sea lion. She embraces the task with grace and beauty as does the sea lion itself. 

Yaquinna Head is a naturally preserved envoirment and is protected by federal law. Therefore, when visiting the beautiful beach below the lighthouse, you are prohibited from taking anything from the beach (i.e. rocks, shells, logs...) home. If you do so, you could be charged with a massive fine.
