Mother Teresa dedicated her life into helping the sick and poor. She went up against her families religion, and went on the rest of her life believing in Jesus Christ. About Mother Teresa's Life
Mother Teresa or, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born in, August 26, 1910 in Skopje Macedonia. She and her family were all religious pilgrimages. As a child she sang in her local choir and for school, she went to Convent Run Primary School. When she was eight years old, her father became sick and soon died. She went on to State Run Secondary School and Institute of Blessed Virgin Mary. Then at age 18, she became a nun and left her mother and sister.

Fun Facts About Mother Teresa
As a child, she would sing in her local choir and was sometimes asked to sing solos. Also, she was around the age of twelve when she experienced her calling to Jesus Christ. Due to her calling, many people would call her a "unbeliever" of Islam, her families religion. After leaving her home, she didn't see her mother nor her sister again. She then went on to teaching in India for 17 years. By the way a international airport in Albania is named after her, Airport Nene Tereza.

Mother Teresa has won many awards in her life time, starting with Padama Shri and Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding in 1962. She won the Jawaharalal Nehru Award in 1969. In 1971, she won the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize. Two years later she won the Templeton Prize in 1973. In 1975, Mother Teresa won the Albert Schweitzer International Prize . Then, one year later she won the Pacem in Terris Award.

Mother Teresa has won even more awards than was shown in the previous page, continuing with Balzan Prize for Humanity, Peace and Fraternity Among People in 1978. In 1979, Mother Teresa won the Patronal Medal and the Nobel Peace Prize the same year. A year later she won the Bharat Ratna . Mother Teresa then won the Order of Merit in 1983. Then in 1985, she won the Presidential Medal of freedom . In 1994, Mother Teresa won the Golden Honor of the Nation. Mother Teresa then won the Grand Order of Queen Jelena in 1995. Two years later in 1997, Mother Teresa won the Congressional Gold Medal . Finally, She won the Order of the Smile, the only thing is that it is unclear when she won the award.

Achievements of Mother Teresa
Mother Teresa has had many achievements in her life time. Here are a few of them. To begin with, she opened The Kalighat Home for people who were dying. Next, she also opened a shelter for taking care of homeless children. Mother Teresa also won the highest honor in India, called Padma Shri . She has also helped people who have suffered from Leprosy.

Mother Teresa's Miracles
Mother Teresa is known for the fact that she helped the sick and poor. Two miracles had happened after her passing and with many saying she was responsible for them. The first miracles was in 1998, when a women had a lump growing in her abdomen. She was becoming very ill and was too weak to go through the operation needed. When the lady had been praying, a light apparently was coming from a photo she had of Mother Teresa. After waking up the next day, the lump had disappeared.
