The idea of launching the project originated in February 2019 in the class of 2.F, and on International Tolerance Day on 15th November 2019 at 1 pm in the hall of our school, one of the first phases of the project was accomplished, which was only preceded by a project presentation workshop and the painting of old shoes. Nineteen students brought old painted shoes at 1 pm, the busiest time of the school day, in which confessions of imaginary persons with a marginalized position in the community were inserted. The students of the school were an active audience, who then looked at the Talking Shoes and read confessions. It is a contemporary artistic expression in the form of happening, which is video documented. The motto of the event was "Let's practice empathy!".

The goal of this project is to stimulate thinking about empathy which is often lacking in everyday communication. Talking Shoes can be worn by anyone interested in another person and their story. In this way people learn to view the world from a position of another person, which contributes to understanding and better interpersonal relationships. The event was inspired by the Museum of Empathy and its founder Roman Krznarić, an English philosopher and sociologist.

In this e-book, we bring you the personal life stories of neglected and forgotten people created by pupils. In the literary and art workshop, the creative pupils developed their creative potentials and became aware of their ability to empathize.
