My Sustainable Farm

This is our small contribution in making this world a better place? What do you do to make this world a better place?

Why do I need animals and plants on my farm? 

How do we expand the earth's natural resources and improve soil quality?  By using animals and their manure, we are adding nutrients back into the soil. So we are expanding the mineral content of the soil and improving soil quality. 

The chickens and ducks will eat the veggies or plants and then make fertilizer. 

Did you know my animals eat plants and my plants need the animal's fertilizer as plant food? So they need each other to stay fed and healthy?

When I'm in the garden, I will pull weeds or take extra veggies or fruit to my chickens and ducks. 

The plants and animals all work together. We try not to waste anything that can be used on the farm. We try to use sustainable practices.<br/>

Sustainable farming means you work to protect the environment, expand the earth's natural resource base and maintain and improve soil fertility. 

The Benefits of Having Chickens and Ducks (Sustainable Farming)

The fertilizer and any table scraps that the chickens or ducks shouldn't have go into my compost pile, so everything is being used. 

How do we work to protect the environment? Well for starters, we do not use any pesticides or chemicals in our garden. The chickens and ducks provide pest and weed control. 

Animals and plants have been working together since the beginning of their existence. This is called a symbiotic relationship. They need each other and benefit from each other.
