In Greece at Easter time: We go to church We make special food and sweets We eat all together We sing carols We light candles We fast during the holy period

This year, the children made a cute chicken out of a toilet paper roll. They painted and decorated it, and we love them! They also painted some eggs that we hang in the tree we have in our hallway. We decorate this tree with different things, due to the season! Since we wanted to make sure that our parents would see all the beautiful crafts our friends did for us, we decided to put them up in an indoor window in-stead of in our tree. It's been very appreciated by both the children and their parents!

- We made some crafts - It is also the beginning of Springs, so we decorated our windows and our corridor with butterflies, peacocks and colorful decorations - We participated to a charity picnic organised for solidarity with the people from Ukraine - We had a school party after Easter

Some Easter traditions from Sweden: This is a summary of what the children told me about their Easter: We get Easter eggs from the Easter bunny. The eggs are filled with candy. We paint eggs We have an egg hunt. We have Easter crisis with feathers in, both inside and outdoors We make crafts. The children can dress up for Easter witches and walk around in the neighbors and ask if they can get some sweets. Many of the children go to the mountains to ski, drive snow mobile and fish. Visit grandparents, or other relatives, who lives a bit far.

We made a calendar, in the shape of a woman, which we call “Kira – Sarakosti”. It is made out of flour water and salt. This woman has a cross on her head, her hands are crossed, has no mouth and she has seven feet. The feet represent the seven weeks to Easter.&nbsp; We baked Lazarakia. Lazarakia are made of sweet bread. Usually in Greece we make them one week before Easter and represent the resurrection of Lazarus of Bethany. We sang the carols of Lazarus the last day before Easter holidays.&nbsp; We dyed Easter eggs.&nbsp;&nbsp; We talked about Easter&nbsp;&nbsp;

During April 11-15, the children from our kindergarten carried out activities about Easter customs and traditions. They painted and decorated eggs, made greeting cards and we also prepared the “ Easter tree“&nbsp;in wich to hang eggs received from our Etwinning partners.

After all the envelopes arrived from our Etwinning partners ,our EASTER TREE was decorated and placed in the kindergarten lobby.

This project shared with us the traditions and customs of the partners countries, we celebrated each in his own way, and at the same time we celebrated together! We also discovered new painting techniques from our eTwinning partners, we developed new teamwork skills!

Easter in Europe! Every year, Europeans celebrate Easter. However, how does each country celebrate Easter? What are the differences ? What are the similarities? 120 kindergarten students from 6 European countries (Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Sweden, Romania and France) discussed this tradition in their country. This book presents the answers to the questions we asked ourselves. It also represents the fruit of collaborative work, during several months, on the European eTwinning platform.

In France, during Easter: - We have charity actions - We participate to egg hunt - Children and adults eat chocolate eggs - We visit our family and share a meal with them - Many people attend church to celebrate Easter

In Italy, during Easter: - We visit our families and have a lunch together with traditional foods; - Many families have small trips on tourist sites, because schools are closed for 1 week; - Many people can go to the church to celebrate Easter; - In some families they are used to paint eggs and bring them to church during a celebration, and after they eat these eggs; - Children (but not only!) eats chocolate eggs and receive a small present, that is inside these eggs.

In Roumania there is tradition of painting eggs, the exact name in roumanian sound “ încondeiere “ (eggs decoration ), the technique consists in drawing some roumanian folk motifs with wax. On Easter day people go to church and then visit their family to serve the traditional Easter meal. At the beginning of the meal there is the custom of beating painted Easter eggs, as a traditional dishes are served lamb and a cake (something like a sweet bread ) called “cozonac&nbsp;“. There is also a tradition for children to receive chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies or other sweets as gift from the Easter Bunny .

Celebrating Easter is always a great event in our classroom. This year we had a great possibility to share Easter joy with our friends from France, Greece, Sweden, Italy and Romania!

We’ve read some EASTER bunny stories and created a beautifull garland with egg shape, using different kind of paper…a gift for our families! Spring is arrived! We decorated our school: we observed and drew branches and different flowers; we went for a walk near school, in the middle of field of cherry trees; our town Vignola is famous in Italy for cherries. In the Easter period, we celebrate them in a ‘‘Flowering Festival’’, with a parade of masked floats; this year our school realized a collection of school supplies and toys for solidarity for children that are arriving in our town from Ukraine. We participate to the Easter etwinning Project! Here is our branch!

Easter in Lithuania: -cleaning and decorating homes -preparing Easter dishes, visiting and meeting relatives -decorating eggs in a traditional way- using bee wax -going to the church a week before Easter to celebrate Palm Sunday and also on Easter Sunday to celebrate Easter Joy
