What Is Covid-19?
COVID-19 is a specific type of coronavirus. COVID-19 stands for Coronavirus Disease 2019. There have been many other strains of coronaviruses throughout our history, for example, the SARS outbreak in 2002. COVID-19 is a very serious disease that has caused a worldwide pandemic. COVID-19 sent the world into lockdown and can affect anyone. For us at school, it changes how we learn, where we learn and interact with others.
What Is A Lockdown?
A lockdown happens when the spread of COVID-19 is getting out of control. During a lockdown, we have to stay home and keep our distance away from certain areas. We can only go outside our home for essential things like groceries, exercise and emergencies. There are many restrictions for everyone: we can't see any friends, go to school, play sport or go to any events. However, we get to spend more time with family and it helps to protect our community. Lockdown can be a challenging time for all of us, it might feel like it goes for a long time but it won't last forever.
