Pandemic is the term used for an infectious disease that spreads very fast over numerous countries.
Pandemics are caused by new diseases that humans have not encountered before. That is one reason why it spreads very quickly, is because the immunity system has not built a resistance to it.

The Fiji measles pandemic was brought about by the Fijian Royal party as they travelled from Australia to Fiji, some crew members carried the disease. The royalties were received by many people and as a result, the disease was spread very quickly leading to one third of Fiji's population to die.

HIV is a virus that attacks and destroys your immune system, causing AIDS which leaves your body fragile to other diseases it would normally fend off. Although it has existed for quite some time, there is yet to be an effective vaccine to cure this, as 35 million people worlwide currently have the HIV virus.

SARS attacks the respiratory system of people. Quaranting had succesfully combated this virus and it hasn't appeared since. This virus however became a trigger for governments across the globe to improve their outbreak responses.

Much like SARS, Covid-19 attacks the respiratory system of people. The virus started in China and quickly spread across the world. School's, communities and countries went into lockdown to help stop the spreading of the virus. Masks, quarantine, and vaccines are being used in defense against this virus.
