Fiji is a country in the Pacific Ocean. It is made up of more than 300 islands. Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are two of the largest islands.

Visitors from overseas come to Fiji on planes. Nelson arrived by plane which landed at the Nadi International Airport. He travelled between the islands on boats.

To buy things on his trip, Nelson used Fijian money that was made up of notes and coins. There were two, five, ten, twenty and fifty dollar notes. There were one and two dollar coins. Sometimes he also used one, two, five, ten, twenty and fifty cent coins.

Nelson met many Fijians and Indians on his trip.

One day Nelson saw some Indian people singing and dancing in a street parade.

On another day he saw some Fijian people at a ceremony.

They were all very friendly towards Nelson. The Fijians would always say bula when they met him. Bula means hello in the Fijian language. When they left they would say, moce which meant goodbye. They said yandra which meant good morning in their language.

The Indian people spoke hindi. They would say kaise hai Nelson, which meant how are you. They also greeted him by saying namaste.

Nelson learnt how to count in Fijian.
