Welcome back to school to all the boys and girls.

I hope you are all looking forward to a school year with lots of learning, adventures and fun! This is a very exciting year as we have someone really special joining our school. His name is Thor and he is our new School dog. We are the FIRST primary school to have a dog so we are very lucky.

Thor is 2 years old. His birthday is the 23rd of May. He is a mix of a labrador and a golden retriever. He loves going for walks on the beach. He is a very gentle and kind dog. He lives with Jen and will come to school with her everyday.

Meet THOR!

Thor was trained by Irish Guide Dogs. This makes him a very, very special dog. Some of the dogs trained by Irish guide dogs learn to help people who are blind. Others learn to help children that have special needs and some very special dogs learn to work in schools.
It takes a lot of work to train the dogs. Thor has worked very hard to make it to our school. There are lots of rules he has learned to follow. It is important that we follow some rules too to make sure we help him be the best that he can be!

Eimear and Catherine from Irish Guide Dogs have made us some videos to help us understand how we can treat Thor well and keep him feeling safe and happy. Lets watch...
