Welcome to the Aspire Academy Trust.

Aspire is a vibrant, highly successful and widely recognised Trust determined to raise standards of educational achievement to the very highest levels. We don’t just aim for our children to achieve what is average or expected, but for them to excel both academically and in character.

We live in a global economy that requires our children to be prepared to think both critically and creatively, solve complex problems, and to communicate well. Head of School Welcome

Delabole Primary is a small school, located between ancient moorland and the rugged coastline of beautiful North Cornwall. The listed building is of historic interest and its north Cornish heritage is reflected in its construction. Community is written into every fibre of our school and we are fiercely proud of its strong identity. This is a working place where local children often follow in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents as they journey through our school. We are very aware of our role as custodians, not only of this precious building, but also of generations of children who understand what it is to truly ‘belong’ here.

Because our sense of place is so deeply rooted in context, the integrity of our curriculum is bound up in our local identity. That said, we are relentlessly ambitious for our children – and for ourselves as educators. Our staff seek out inspirational opportunities to enrich learning and our children are encouraged to meet each new challenge and encounter with open minds and hearts. It is our intention that our pupils gain a strong sense of self so that they are able to confidently form their ideas and opinions. In combining their voices with those of their friends, they grow to understand what it means to contribute to a learning community. As they mature, their experiences ripple out so that by the time they leave us, they understand their place in the world as global citizens.

Values-based Education is an approach to teaching that works in synchronicity with a set of whole school core values. It creates a strong learning environment that enhances academic attainment, and develops students' social and relationship skills that last throughout their lives.
The positive learning environment is achieved through the positive values modelled by staff throughout the school. It quickly liberates teachers and students from the stress of confrontational relationships, which frees up substantial teaching and learning time.

Early Years Curriculum

Early Years Foundation Stage
At Delabole Community Primary School we are firm believers that the Foundation Stage is a vital and exciting time for children. It quite literally builds their educational platform giving stability to all learning that follows. During this time, children develop quickly and we want to make sure they have the best start to their school life with us.

Early Years Classroom

The Early Years Foundation Stage plants the seed for children to learn and grow. That is why the environment in which they learn plays an integral role in supporting children in feeling safe and becoming confident individuals. Our Early Years Classroom includes inside and outside environments, we use a variety of areas which are well equipped and designed to encourage children to be active learners. We adapt the classroom regularly to meet the needs and interests of the children and to promote and celebrate our enquiry curriculum.
