Given that mobile devices are more and more present in class, it is becoming possible for teachers to think about replacing paper textbooks or course notes with an electronic textbook that teachers can create themselves.

They are certainly easier to carry around, but do they have any other advantages. Yes, they do!

The main advantage: An e-book can include multimédia. You can integrate:
- Sound
- Videos
- Hyperlinks
- downloadable files (PDF or others)
When using Book Creator with Chrome, the “Read to me” function allows you to listen to an automatically generated text-to-speech audio track. Give it a try by using the button on the top right-hand side of the interface.

This makes the book more accessible, according to universal design for learning principles. Students have the choice to read or listen to the text, or both!
Making a textbook to cover the material for an entire course is a colossal task, but you can start with an e-book for one class. This gradual approach will also allow you to make some adjustments on the fly, as required, based on the reaction of your students.

Furthermore, with a tool like Book Creator, you can ask you students to create an e-book rather than having them produce a standard assignment.

The possibilities are endless!
