Hello 4th grade! I hope you are doing great and loving the book so far. I find that the characters in this story are so likable. I hope you do too.
Chapter 22
Theme: A theme of a book is a general idea of what the books is about. Themes are usually a word or two that highlights a thought that the book continually touches on. In Because of Winn-Dixie a theme could be friendship because Opal finds friends throughout the whole story because of her dog. The idea of friendship is throughout the whole book and is explored many times. Choose one of these themes and describe why/how it is important in the book. FEAR, COURAGE, FAMILY

Ten Things Opal Knew about Winn-Dixie...
He had a pathological fear of thunderstorms
He liked to smile, using all his teeth
He could run fast
He snored
He could catch mice without squishing them to death
He like to meet people
He liked to eat peanut butter
He couldn't stand to be left alone
He liked to sit on couches and sleep in beds
He didn't mind going to church
Chapter 24
Question... When Opal and the preacher were crying together (and this made me get a little choked up too) their relationship changed. What do you think is different about their relationship now?
