Hello 4th grade! I hope everyone is doing great!
Chapter 17
Elaboration is the addition of descriptive language and phrases to simple sentences. Writers elaborate their stories to provide more detail so the reader knows exactly what is meant. The author elaborates everything from how Winn-Dixie sits in front of the fan to the Littmus Lozenge story. Write a short story or a few sentences adding adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases. Share it with me at nmcclary@swain.org

A writer's style is his or her usual way of writing. Style involves the story tone, word choice, sentence length, rhythm, use of formal and informal language, as well as other things.
