To the Grade 5 Class of 2021
A note from Mrs. Schwarze
When principals give farewell speeches to classes leaving their school, we often offer words of advice to help you be successful as you face the next chapter of life. We take time to recognize the lessons you have learned here; as well as the challenges and obstacles you have already overcome to get to this point in your education. But aside from parting words of advice and reminders of lessons learned, leaving elementary school marks a huge milestone; I am honored to be a part of celebrating your success!
Every single one of you deserves to be recognized for your unique strengths and talents; you also need to be recognized for the contributions you made to our school and community. Grade 5, you are good at so many things, if you follow your passion and the things that bring you joy you will find your purpose.
With you along the way, your parents and teachers have put in great amounts of time to help you learn and grow. We have ALL taught and learned from one another. We thank you for the things you taught us, and I hope you take some time to think about some lessons learned here that will help you be successful in your new school.

Remember, as you are making decisions about your future self, you may need to push yourself outside your comfort zone and take risks. When you do this, at some point you will stumble, you will make mistakes, and you will need to course correct. What is important is how you choose to handle mistakes. Correction and constructive criticism, though difficult to hear, will teach you to understand perspective, lead you to become a critical thinker, and a peaceful problem solver.
I hope you have learned also the importance of developing your own internal compass. Know what Zone you are in and why and use that knowledge of yourself to guide your day-to-day decisions and to set goals for yourself. This will help you to create your own story and when situations become difficult, trust your internal compass, and use your personal strategies to get you through difficult situations. Be resilient.
Finally, remember to listen, to always be kind, and to show gratitude. These are the real secret to success. Be still, and focused, be open minded and really listen. Extend yourself in kindness whenever you can. Banish dark words and actions and replace them with positive thoughts and behaviors. Kindness never goes out of style, and when things are going well, do not forget to show your gratitude!

What is your favourite BHS memory?
What will you miss most about BHS?
What I like is that there's not a lot of people and you get your own space.
I'll miss the playground and if I leave it will be boring.

My favorite memory of being here for six years is meeting Brayden on the sixth year๐. If I learned one thing from Brayden it`s to go REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
What I will miss is all the teachers and kids that will still be here๐. And I might miss the grass and pea gravel!

What is your favourite BHS memory?
What will you miss most about BHS?
My favorite memory of being here one year is when I got to meet RJ. We had a lot of fun playing together, but we did kind of get in trouble for talking.
What I'm going to miss about this school is the playground and my friends. We would only play grounders or tag on the playground.
