Metaphors are like similes but without like or as. I said that the entirety of my worldview was like a medieval castle because I felt as though they both had different features that were alike. The string foundations of the castle are my solid beliefs, and the other extras are what I feel I’ve learned or like.

Haikus are very short, three line poems that have a set amount of syllables. Since they are so short, it’s better to do three. The first one is about me trying to fit in, but in the end giving up because it wasn’t right for me. The second is more about my home life, and how I sometimes hear things from my parents that are quite gory, yet I know that I need to hear. The last haiku is about my darling dog, with all his sweetness and what he’s taught me.

You might be wondering about the title and format in this poem, understandably. A found poem is a poem made from already existing literature, or writing. I took these words from a Christian article talking about how to act around others with different worldviews. I thought I would find some good words in there and I did, however not without some adjusting. I picked the words I felt best described all worldviews, and some that would apply to mine.

Last summer (2017, for clarification) my mom and I were in Paris for three days. One of my favourite things to do in life is travel, so whenever I go somewhere different it fills me with happiness. The cathedral I describe here is the Notre Dame, as the hotel we were staying had a very clear view of the beautiful building. The reason it’s part of worldview is my love for new places, and this experience changed my worldview because it showed me that everything I saw on picture, I could see with my own eyes.

Looking at this poem, one should probably realize these aren’t normal words. In fact, they are examples of onomatopoeia, words that are what they sound like. The sounds/words I put in this poem are reminiscent of what I hear when I go into central Vancouver. Where I live is the foundation of my worldview, and living in North Vancouver enables me with so many opportunities. Going to downtown reminds that I like to be surrounded by people, unique people at that. The words at the end of the stanza are just things I hear very often when I’m in the city.

My hope for this poem was that the reader would get a feeling for what it was like for me to perform with a band. The band was one I had to put effort into auditioning for, and once in it, I was so happy that I had found other people who shared the same love for music as myself. On the night of the big concert I was nervous, but very excited to perform what I had put so much effort into. I hope you get a good sense of what it was like.

Personification is a term that’s used when an inanimate object, like an apple, is given human characteristics. What I hoped to convey with the poem is the idea of what my worldview is like. I imagined it as my body being a vessel and my worldview being the thing that gives it emotions and thoughts and likes. I described my day and tried to put in elements of my worldview.
