The directions and clues will lead you from the starting point of the trail to its end. You will get there even if you are unable to solve the mystery of the theft. If you get lost or are not able to solve the clue but you would still like to try, all you need to do is to go back to the last unsolved question and try to figure it out once more.
The directions and clues are very precise; hence you should not get lost on the trail.

Solving the mystery

Some of the clues are designed to identify a person, so the solution will be a name, surname or initials of a person. Find this person on the suspect list and you will be able to eliminate them from the investigation.
Following the trail in order to solve the mystery does not require entering private properties or purchasing entrance tickets to any places.

About the trail

The trail is situated in the Grzegórzki district. It begins by the Kotlarski Bridge and ends close to Pilotów Street. It is a cycling trail which means peddling the route. You will stop along the way to solve clues. This trail covers more distance than a walking trail. Therefore, it is designed as a cycling trail.
Clues are situated in the urban space along main streets – on memorials, monuments and architectural objects.

START HERE

We start our trip by the Kotlarski Bridge at the side of the Kazimierz shopping mall. You can get there by tram or bus, but given the length of the route you have to travel in Grzegórzki, a bicycle is recommended.
After getting off Kotlarski Bridge, cycle along the Vistulan Boulevards to Ogród Nadziei (Garden of Hope). You have one clue to solve there.

Kotlarski Bridge connects Grzegórzki and Zabłocie. It is the longest arch bridge in Poland which has no pillars on the river.

CLUE 01

The plaque in the Garden of Hope contains a clue. Pay attention to the donor of the sculptures located there. Eliminate the suspect who bears the same name.

ANSWER

Leave the Garden of Hope and head towards the nearest pedestrian crossing. Cross the street and cycle along Ignacego Daszyńskiego Avenue. Head towards the New Jewish Cemetery. The entrance to the cemetery is located in Miodowa Street, so from Daszyńskiego Avenue turn left into Sieldeckiego Street and at the end of this street turn left again into Miodowa Street. You have about 700m to travel.

DIRECTIONS

The New Jewish Cemetery was established in 1800 outside the built-up area of Kazimierz, on the grounds bought by the Jewish community from Augustinians. Additional ground was bought in 1926 and started being used from 1932 as the existing plot was full by then. Between 1939 and 1945 the cemetery was closed. Germans devastated it and used the demolished tombstones to build barracks in the forced labour camp in Płaszów. It was reopened after the war and cleaned up in the 1950s.. Many prominent individuals from the Jewish community in Krakow are buried here.

Exit the Jewish cemetery. Turn right, cycle along Miodowa Street and then turn into Siedleckiego Street. Cycle to the end of Siedleckiego Street, then turn left into Daszyńskiego Avenue. You will reach the Monument of Armed Actions of the Kraków Proletariat class.

The Monument of Armed Actions of the Krakow Proletariat class commemorates the "Cracow bloody spring" - strikes of March 1936 and other dates important in the history of the Polish socialist movement.

CLUE 03

Narrow down the pool of suspects by eliminating the person whose name is related to the place where the monument was created.

Look at the other side of the street. You should see the building no 32 which houses an interesting shop.

DIRECTIONS

CLUE 04

In the shop you can get yourself arms, ammunition and hunting accessories. From the pool of suspects, eliminate the person associated with the shop owner.

ANSWER

Leave the current location and go to the nearest crossroad where Daszyńskiego Ave. crosses Masarska St. and Franciszka Blachnickiego St. On the junction turn left into Blachnickiego St., follow that street, until you reach the Cracovia Ice Rink, this should only take a few minutes. Turn right into Siedleckiego St. and cycle until it ends. Then, turn left. You should see shops and the marketplace.

DIRECTIONS

The marketplace UNITARG by the Hala Targowa building has been managed by the merchants since 1991. During the week days on the marketplace besides fresh fruits and vegetables, there is also a big selection of baker’s goods from different bakeries, interesting cheese from little dairies and food from all over the world. In other words, delicacies which are hard to find in supermarkets. At the weekend the marketplace turns into a book fair merged with a bric-a-brac market which attracts many buyers.

DIRECTIONS

Leave the square and head right towards Grzegórzeckie Roundabout. After passing 450m along Grzegórzecka St. you will reach the Stanisław Wyspiański High School no. 2.

Stanisław Wyspiański was a very comprehensive creator. He was a dramaturge, poet, architect, graphic designer and a painter. His greatest drama is “Wesele”. Wyspiański created many stained-glass windows, which we can find for example in “Wyspiański’s Pavillion” on All Saints’ Square or in the Franciscan church in Kraków.

FACTFILE

Search for the mural opposite the Stanislaw Wyspianski High School painted in memory of the school’s patron. The mural is entitled “Hermes guiding the heroes to Hades”. The suspect that should be eliminated from the game has the same surname as the mythological creature shown in the bottom right corner of the mural.

DIRECTIONS

Follow the pavement along Grzegórzecka St. until you reach Grzegórzeckie Roundabout. While on the roundabout go towards the skyscraper, which is located between Grzegórzecka St. and Pokoju Ave. You have to go across a few pedestrian crossings.
