~Chapter 1~
The Bubble Begins
Violet
It was a normal morning before school, when I heard Ma calling my name: Violet. Violet Beauregarde. I go to Tanning Field Middle School, and I’m in seventh grade. I have the absolute worst teacher ever!  His name is Mr. Brailington and he hates when I chew my gum in class. I mean I can’t help it, I’ve been chewing ever since I was four years old. I’ve been chewing this piece for three months solid!
When I was heading to school one day, my best friend Cornelia Prinzmetel walked up to me and out of nowhere said,
“We can’t be friends anymore because you broke my record of chewing gum!”
Cornelia started to cry, and ran into the school building.
“What is wrong with that girl?!?”
I thought to myself. I was so mad at her!!! She was so self centered!
When I finally got to school, my bad mood didn’t lift at all when I saw Mr. Brailington. Ugh! He really is the worst! Well, anyways, I made sure that before the first bell rang I would go to my locker to get a piece of gum. Maybe, just maybe, I could sneak one tiny piece past that awful teacher today.
And would you look at that: the whole class or Mr. Brailington didn’t even realize I was chewing. That lifted my spirits a little, but not enough to be in a great mood. And when the day was finally over,  I walked home to my small apartment in Miles City, Montana.
~Chapter 2~
The Bubble Butt
Cornelia
Man! That Bubble Butt! Violet is so annoying. Chewing gum is my thing. I’m supposed to be the champ. So of course, being me I started to “cry” and stomped away--dramatically. I think she believed I was crying. I couldn’t know for sure. Well here we have it: a special chapter from me: Cornelia Prinzmetel, The Real Champion Gum Chewer.
I was faking being Violet's BFF. I mean, like, I just needed to learn all the ropes--use her. But here we are and she’s still the champion. There’s gotta be some way I can chew my gum longer than her. Besides, Mama said that I absolutely need to beat Little Miss Violet Beauregarde.
Ma’s a gum chewer too, actually she’s beaten most of everyone when she was my age. But alas so did Violet’s mama. They tied in the last championship round. They each chewed a piece for seven months straight. Now they’re so called “retired”. I think that I should be the winner. I mean I’m the cutest, smartest, and the best gum chewer, obviously. That’s what Mama says, anyway.

When I got to my first class that day, I was bored. I decided to skip third period and do something fun for once: explore the school basement. So when the third period bell rang I rushed to the end of the hall to the basement entry. I saw the plaque on the door that read ‘BASEMENT’. I twisted the now rusted metal doorknob, and heard the slight creak of the door opening.
I moved into the basement and started my descent down the long staircase. When I finally reached the bottom. There was a musty smell that I couldn’t quite place, and there were cobwebs everywhere you looked. The walls were slightly peeling in the corners and were painted an unfriendly beige colour.
Half of me almost darted back upstairs, but there was no way I was skipping my adventure, and besides, I was already down there so I might as well explore a little.
I walked through one of the cobweb covered doors and immediately bolted out. There were so many spiders there! Ewww! I screamed as I ran away, not realizing I was running deeper into the erie basement.

After fifteen more minutes of ‘exploring’ I decided to go back upstairs and at least go to class for a bit. My teacher was probably wondering where I was. Boy, did I make the wrong choice. I should have stayed in the basement until the third period was over. I shouldn’t have walked into the classroom late.
Because when I did, all eyes were on me. Snickers filled the room, even Violet was laughing. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.
