When Ane Sofie as sled driver stands behind her dog team running over the ice, she experiences a special kind of freedom. She is in the middle of the nature she loves. Here she can be herself and proud of her working dogs. This is freedom to Ane Sofie. What does freedom mean to you? When can you be yourself?

Emission of greenhouse gases causes global warming. This is called the greenhouse effect. The temperature on Earth increases and as a result the great ice masses are melting. Now you will work with some of the consequences of the ice melting.

What will happen to the vegetation if all of the ice melts in summer?

What will happen to Greenland if the inland ice melts?

If the sun's rays are not reflected, what happens?

What will happen if the sea level rises 7 meters?

The inland ice covers about 83% of Greenland's area, and is on average 2 km thick.

If the temperature rises 1.6 to 2.1 degrees, all sea ice in the Arctic will melt in summer.

If all the ice in Greenland melted, the global sea level would rise 7 meters.

It is not yet known if oil deposits are hidden under the ice.

Snow and ice reflect the rays of the Sun, thus keeping the temperature from rising.

The permanent&nbsp;exhibition&nbsp;“The Story of Ice” is a presentation of the unique natural and cultural history of Ilulissat, including the climate changes that are having a dramatic impact on the area. This is the story about the creation of ice crystals in the clouds that will fall down on the inland ice, pack itself densely and with time evolve into a glacier front that will break off and become an iceberg that melts to water and then evaporates and returns to the clouds. Ice also means life to humans and animals that need the sea ice to hunt or fish. Here ice is the basis of life for nature and humans. The season for driving dog sledges is getting shorter and shorter because the ice is melting as the climate is getting warmer and warmer. This is what Ane Sofie tells in the podcast.
