I would like to dedicate this book to Francisco de Garay for making this all possible. By helping pay for my supplies and believing in me, look how far I've come. Thank you governor of Jamaica!

My brain
November 9, 1519
Hi! I am Alonso Alvarez De Pineda. And I am an Explorer. Some might even say I'm the best explorer out there. But before you second guess it, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born in a village called Aldeacentenera, Spain. Ever since I was a boy, I’ve always wanted to be an explorer. But not just an explorer, a famous one! So, I began practicing. I would go explore my village. From the tiny rooms in my house all the way to the dock where they ship the boats, I knew that I was destined to be a great explorer. On my birthday I finally left my beautiful village of Aldeacentenera and went on my way to explore! Here is my journal of the adventure that I went on.

Before I even start my adventure, I need to find a sponsor. I’ve turned to everyone for help but they have all refused. But, when I was just about to give up, the most generous person helped. It was no more than the governor of Jamaica! Mr. Francisco De Garay. He was kind enough to pay for my trip and supplies.

My first day of exploring was definitely one to remember. I boarded a ship and traveled across the open sea. I saw the waves crashing, the fish swimming freely and the birds flying happily above the water. I have even grown to love the rocking of the boat. I strongly believe that this day is the perfect one to start my adventures!
