What do I need to bring to school?

You will need to bring your book bag every day. This is how we will send home your homework and books. You will have three books: an Oxford Reading Tree book, a phonics book and a bed time story.

Our first topic is 'Our Story'.
It would be brilliant if you could practise writing some short sentences about yourself.
You could take walks around Sparkhill and think about where you live and draw pictures.
You could look at baby pictures of yourself and think about who is in your family.

You will also need to bring your very own water bottle. This will need your name clearly labelled on it. You will take your water bottle home every day, wash it and refill it with fresh water.

What can I do at home to get ready for Year 1?

Counting to 100! In Year 1 we do lots of work in maths about numbers to 100, you could practise counting forward and backward and if you wanted to challenge yourself, think about one more and one less than a given number.

Finally... It is important for you and your parents to have a rest this summer. Make sure you have lots of fun and play, both indoors and outdoors.
