Jacob Thomas Chapter 1
The wrong path
The wrong path
By the time I arrived at Corey's farm it was nearing 9:00 am, yet there was still the cool bite in the morning air. Corey and I helped my dad unload my new motorbike off the trailer to take it for a spin. Corey’s and my parents went inside for a cuppa while we warmed up our bikes in one of Corey’s paddocks. It was around 9:30 am by the time Larz arrived. Corey, Larz and I took his bike off his trailer.
“Our parents are having a Cuppa inside if you want to go join them.” Corey told Larz’s Mum.
“Ok.” She replied and went inside.

“Hey, we should go for a ride down to Corey's calf shed.” I asked intrigued i've always wanted to see a calf up close.
“Alright .” Corey replied.
‘I'm down for it.” Larz added.

The wrong path
Quickly, we started our bikes and with a vroom we were off. After a couple of minutes we had made it to the gravel driveway of the calf shed. Slowly, we made our way down the driveway, but we didn’t realize we had taken the wrong turn because of the thick dust.
Eventually, we came to a halt and as the dust settled and then we saw the rough outline of a house. It hadn’t taken much longer for the rest of the dust to settle before we could see the entire house. It looked abandoned, old and rundown, with many weatherboards falling off, it was covered in graffiti with the white paint gone yellow through the ages. There was a rusted fence surrounding the perimeter like the one you would find at the cemetery, on the roof was an old wind vane with broken and partially destroyed gargoyles on either side.

Bad Choices
Bad choices
Slowly, we crept up to the gate, with a little push the gate let out a bone chilling screech. I could barely make out the original path through the overgrown rose bushes, the roses bush were pitch black. Quickly, we made our way through the roses cautiously trying not to get pricked by the thorns. We finally made it to the veranda when suddenly I felt my stomach tighten and I began to wonder if I made the right decision.
“Bet you won’t go in there” Larz said smugly.
“ Alright bet” I replied calmly.
“Are you sure Jacob?” Corey asked nervously.
“Heck yeah i am” I exclaimed staunchly while all of my instincts were screaming not to.
