A Collection of Thoughts I've Had
A Collection of Thoughts I've Had
The inspiration for these poems were random thoughts that popped into my head (hence the title "A Collection of Thoughts I've Had"). Some are hopeful, some are sad, but they're all thoughts I've had.

What I Want to Say
I have so much I want to say,
But don't know where to start
My brain has lost connection -
It can't tell what's in my heart
I have so many feelings
Just waiting to be unleashed
Like beasts inside my chest
Begging to be released
I know what I want to say
Like I know my best friend’s voice,
But the words disperse the moment I need them,
And letting them is not my choice
I have so much I want to say,
But don’t know where to start
But putting my pen done on the page
Is as good a start as I’ve got
I have so much I want to say,
But don't know where to start
My brain has lost connection -
It can't tell what's in my heart
I have so many feelings
Just waiting to be unleashed
Like beasts inside my chest
Begging to be released
I know what I want to say
Like I know my best friend’s voice,
But the words disperse the moment I need them,
And letting them is not my choice
I have so much I want to say,
But don’t know where to start
But putting my pen done on the page
Is as good a start as I’ve got
These Horrible Things
"What is wrong with you?"
You ask the monsters as they
Squeeze their claws on your brain and
Fill it with
Horrible things, awful things
"What is wrong with
"You," they counter.
"Why do you think about these things?
These horrible things, awful things
Things that hurt, things that scar
Things that will tear you apart
These horrible things, awful things
Things that are the furthest thing from true
These horrible things, awful things
Things that would make no one trust you
These horrible things, awful things
You don't know where they start
These horrible things, awful things
And you don't know how to make them -"
Stop.
"What is wrong with you?"
You ask the monsters as they
Squeeze their claws on your brain and
Fill it with
Horrible things, awful things
"What is wrong with
"You," they counter.
"Why do you think about these things?
These horrible things, awful things
Things that hurt, things that scar
Things that will tear you apart
These horrible things, awful things
Things that are the furthest thing from true
These horrible things, awful things
Things that would make no one trust you
These horrible things, awful things
You don't know where they start
These horrible things, awful things
And you don't know how to make them -"
Stop.

Questions
Late at night in your bed,
Or while the teacher is talking,
Or while your friend is ranting,
Or whenever, really
Your mind spirals
Into a haze of questions
This is how they go:
Why didn't you?
You already messed it up once,
So why did you do it again?
Why didn't you try?
Why do you always give up
Before you've even tried?
Or after you've tried only once?
Or when you're halfway there?
Why are you so lazy?
Can't you see how hard everyone else tries?
So why
Don't
You?

Or whenever, really
Your mind spirals
Into a haze of questions
