Mrs Hadwin the music expert and inspirational person came to teach us African drumming.

In drumming lessons we have been learning about keeping a beat and playing a rhythm. Neve

We learnt how important it is to keep our bodies fit and healthy and to always keep trying.  Dan Purvis told us to give 100% and go for gold!

We celebrated World Book Day by listening to stories and discussing our favourite books and characters. We also designed book covers and drew our favourite characters from the world of books. Of course, we all dressed up as famous characters, from Harry Potter to the No-Bot we all enjoyed celebrating stories.

If you see pills or medicine do not think they are sweets. They will make you poorly and you will need to go to hospital. 

Bleach is very dangerous and looks like you can drink it. It is in a bottle but it is not for drinking. Look for the signs on bottles.

Do no eat any medicines or things that you find that look like sweets. Give them to a grown up. It is dangerous. 

herbivores are gentle creatures that eat plants, leaves and seeds. They do not eat other animals. 

Omnivores eat a mix of plants and meat. they eat food they find and almost anything.  Henry

omnivores eat meat and leaves and plants. They eat a mixture of things. 

We made regular and irregular shapes with cocktail sticks and described their properties using the vocabulary 'straight sides' and 'corners'.

A lion is a carnivore, it only eats meat. George.<br/>

A crocodile is a carnivore, it eats meat and would not eat vegetables or leaves. Maddie

Herbivores eats leaves and plants, not meat.  They might eat seeds but never meat. Neve.

Bunny rabbits, sheep and cows are herbivores. Ada

Elephants are herbivores and live in Africa. Elsie

We made up our own shapes, movements and linked them together to make a whole dance. We were seeds growing into beautiful, exotic flowers and we were animals travelling around the rainforest too! 

In dance we have been making spiky shapes like plants, waterfall in the rainforest and moving like animals. Thomas.

I loved the dance, it was fun to be different things in the rainforest and i liked the poses at the end. Miller

We had a visit from another inspirational person- Dan Purvis. He won an Olympic medal for gymnastics.

We talked about what to do if you find medicine or anything with crosses on around the house. We discussed what is dangerous in our homes and how to be safe.

You must clean up the water on the floor in case you slip.

Even if it's only a bit of water someone might slip on it.

We could use paper towels to clean it up or tell a grown up. 

In Autumn the leaves fall, change colour and die. They are orange, red and brown. Some animals in autumn start to get ready for winter. Some birds migrate and animals like mice and squirrels get food so they can hibernate. <br/>Kitty

Winter is very cold and animals hide to hibernate. Deciduous trees have no leaves in winter, but evergreen trees sill have them. Heidi

In spring it gets warmer even though it is still a bit chilly. Shoots of the plants come up in spring and they are getting ready to bloom. Lyla

Summer is when the weather is very hot. It would be sunny, the trees are green and the flowers come out. Danny M. Sometimes hen I wake up in summer it is already light. Ada

Class 6<br/>Spring 2<br/>Learning Journey

Maria Hardman, the expert dancer and inspirational person, came to teach us how to put a dance together from start to finish. We danced as animals and plants in the rainforest.

We learnt about Jane Goodall and what good things she had done in her life. She was very kind to animals and she was an expert in monkeys. 

We read books about her life and also looked at how we know about her life. We found out all about historical sources.

We printed with 3D shapes after looking at African patterns for inspiration. 

We used clocks to tell the time to o'clock and half past. We used this knowledge to draw hands on clocks, read clocks and sequence.

We looked at African crafts people who weaved using many different materials and we learnt how to weave ourselves. 

carnivores only eat meat- they eat other animals called their prey. 

We carefully followed an online tutorial to draw pictures of Mr Men and inventing our very own Mr Men and Little Miss characters.

Dan taught us about stretching to warm our bodies up, ready to exercise and keep fit.
