Summer Term 1 Class 4

We learnt our number bonds to make 20. We used number bonds to 10 to help us make number bonds to 20. 

Class 4 Summer Term 1 Learning Journey

We looked at Jewish artefacts and learnt their names. We looked at similarities and differences between Judaism and Christianity and learnt all about the Synagogue. 

We looked at and explored picture frames. We had to design and make a prototype that stood up by itself and would hold a photograph.

We focussed on striking a ball to score a goal against our friends. We remembered to look at the ball and to stand in a sideways position.

Everyone should be treated the same no matter what! 

We should be nice and treat others kindly.

Respect means treating people like you want to be treated. 

Respect is when you treat someone well because you like them.

Respect means that you will look after property and not damage it. 

We learnt about Scott of the Antarctic, the explorer who went on a voyage of danger and discovery. We learnt how to find out facts about the past using SOURCES. 

We used Microsoft Word as a word processor to write digitally.

We used keys on the keyboard to write, make the cursor go to a new line, delete mistakes and use capital letters.

We learnt about spaces, new lines, capital letters, changing font and colour!

We have naming and labelling different parts of plants and trees.

We ordered photographs so that we could remember how to plant a seed.

We used glue and sellotape to put our photo frames together.

We looked at modern explorers so that we could compare them to explorers from the past. We looked at their clothes and places they visited. We looked at Bear Grylls life and adventures. Afterwards we created a timeline by placing photographs of him in the correct order.

We thought of different questions to ask Pokko and the characters to learn more about the story.

We went out onto the field and practiced punting the ball to a partner. We tried to drop the ball and punt it and make it go towards a target. 

We made photo frame prototypes to help us identify what stands were most effective.

We planned and designed our photo frames so that they looked nice.

We designed and decorated our photo frames using different resources.

Striking and Fielding - Cricket We learnt lots of different cricket skills- fielding, batting, bowling, striking the ball, how to hold the bat.

I trust people who are honest, helpful and sensible.

Trust is when you know that people love you and want to help you. they will be kind and you know they will be. 

I want people to trust me to be sensible.

You earn trust by being good and showing that you are nice, then people know and can trust you. 

We learnt about using a keyboard and how to write on the computer. We learnt about the space bar too! 

It is important to listen so that you find out what to do.

Listening to your teacher helps you learn.

If you don't listen you might not know what to do, or what is going to happen.

I listen to what my friends say to see how they are. 

I want people to listen to me so I listen to them.

We worked in groups to plants seeds in a paper plant pot. We placed the soil in carefully, pressed down to make a hole to put a seed in and watered it to help it grow.

We learnt about the U.K., capital cities, geographical features and where Liverpool is in the UK.

We raised money for the Water Aid charity. We saw what it was like to carry heavy water a long way.

We learnt the capital cities of the U.K. as well as some oceans and seas. 

Courage means being brave even when you might be scared.
