Class 6<br/>Summer Term 1<br/>Learning Journey

We looked at Jewish artefacts and learnt their names. We looked at similarities and differences between Judaism and Christianity and learnt all about the Synagogue. 

It was really important for us to look at the canal. We learnt that a canal is man made, so it is not physical geography like a river. We discussed the dangers of the canal and other dangers, to tie in with our PSHE hazard watch work. We also talked about the environment, rubbish and pollution and why it is not a good thing. 

<br/>We looked at and explored picture frames. We had to design and make a prototype that stood up by itself and would hold a photograph.

Respect means treating people like you want to be treated. 

Respect is when you treat someone well because you like them

Respect means that you will look after property and not damage it. 

It is important to listen so that you find out what to do.

I want people to listen to me so i listen to them. 

If you don't listen you might not know what to do, or what is going to happen.

I listen to what my friends say to see how they are. 

We learnt about Scott of the Antarctic, the explorer who went on a voyage of danger and discovery. We learnt how to find out facts about the past using SOURCES. We read what he wrote in his diary, looked at photographs and thought about how things have changed since then. 

Everyone should be treated the same no matter what! 

Naming and labelling plants, flowers and trees

We went out onto the field and practiced punting the ball to a partner. We tried to drop the ball and punt it and make it go towards a target. 

We drew the signs of spring that we saw- nests, daffodils, buds, blossom, baby ducklings and we made a note of the wildife we could see too. 

We talked about rubbish, pollution and how to care for the environment. 

I trust people who are honest, helpful and sensible.

Trust is when you know that people love you and want to help you. they will be kind and you know they will be. 

I want people to trust me to be sensible.

You earn trust by being good and showing that you are nice, then people know and can trust you. 

Cricket- we learnt lots of different cricket skills- fielding, batting, bowling, striking the ball, how to hold the bat. 

We used keys on the keyboard to write, make the cursor go to a new line, delete mistakes and use capital letters. 

We used Microsoft Word as a word processor to write digitally. 

We learnt about spaces, new lines, capital letters, changing font and colour!

We learnt about using a keyboard and how to write on the computer. We learnt about the space bar too! 

We learnt about the U.K., capital cities, geographical features and where Liverpool is in the UK.

Courage means being brave even when you might be scared.

We raised money for the Water Aid charity. We saw what it was like to carry heavy water a long way.

We learnt the capital cities of the U.K. as well as some oceans and seas. We learnt a song about the capital cities! 

We went to look at signs of spring in Rimrose Valley. We also looked at the local area, the canal and animal habitats.
