The king of the neighbouring Village has three daughters. They are coming to visit you tomorrow. I want you to choose one of their daughters to marry." Devanand replied - " ok father, as you say." and left the room.
The next day, The king along with his three princesses, came to visit King Vaidyanath. King Vaidyanath asked Devanand - " Son, Why don't you go out for a walk with your minister while I have a little talk with the king and his daughters? " Devanand agreed and went outside with his minister. After few minutes, Devanand asked his minister- " I cannot choose one of the king's daughter to marry! what shall I do? " On hearing this, the minister gave the prince an idea. The prince liked it and agreed to do it.
At a small distance, there was a pit. The prince jumped inside it. His minister went back to the royal palace and told the three princesses - " my, ladies, the prince is stuck in a pit. I cannot rescue him. I would like the three of you to go and rescue him. Please, he needs help. " The princesses went near the pit. " This is the pit where the prince has fallen. Please try your best to rescue him. " Said the minister and hid behind the bush without letting the princesses know he was hiding there.
The first princess, despite having a big rope didn't try to rescue the prince. The second princess, despite having a big, long wooden stick, also didn't try to rescue the prince. But, the third princess, despite having no tool at all, still tried to rescue the prince. She jumped into the pit and gathered all the big rocks and stacked them up one by one to form a stair. The princess and the prince, both then climbed up the stairs and got out of the pit. The prince thanked the princesses and they left.
The prince then walked over to his minister who was hiding behind the bush. He asked him - "So, which princess really tried to help me? " The minister replied - " Your highness, The first princess, despite having a rope didn't try to help you. The second princess, despite having a long, wooden stick also didn't try to help you.
