Mariestad - Impressions
Weekend in sweden
On Saturday, some of us met and walked around the city. We visited a big candy store and a church and then went out for a delicious meal. Afterwards we celebrated with the exchange parents a traditional Swedish festival called `kräftskiva`. This festival is celebrated in August to close the summer. People meet with friends and families and eat crayfish. It is also traditional to put a lot of crab decorations and everyone wears a hat. We also followed these traditions. We also sang some songs in Swedish. After the feast we had traditional Swedish chocolate cake, called Kladdkaka.
On Monday we all visited Snapen. We played some outdoor games, Swedes vs Germans.
At this game, four people each stood on two wooden boards. We had to walk a certain distance, turn around and walk back again. To win this game your group needs good teamwork and I think we did pretty good.
The Swedes call this game "Irish Cristmas Eve". We had a stick and had to spin for twenty seconds while looking down. Then we had to run up a hill, spin again for ten seconds and run back with an egg on a spoon.
This game is called "Brännboll". We hit a ball with a baseball bat and ran to a cap, whilest the other team had to get the ball and bring it to the player, who was standing at a wooden board.
