Code of Conduct
The TOGI Research Sharing day was created as a space where colleagues and friends can share their research and progress with each other. Please consider that for many this may be a daunting experience: sharing something created in the quiet of an office or research space with an audience is not easy. In the spirit of mutual understanding, support and care, we therefore ask that everyone adheres to the following code of conduct.
♦ Be considerate and respectful

♦ Dip the arrows of truth in honey, i.e. let's build each other up in truth and kindness

♦ Avoid demeaning, embarrasing, harassing or abusive behaviour

♦ Keep to the time on the programme

Welcome address at the 2021 TOGI Research Sharing Day
The Two Oceans Graduate Institute supports and encourages distinguished scholarship and reputable research in the field of teacher education, striving to promote internationally competitive research. This commitment to research is aligned with the national imperative to encourage more postgraduate studies, to increase the production of research output as defined by research articles, books, book chapters, and conference proceedings. The institution strives to add to the pool of researchers in the country that can contribute to knowledge production in education.

The institute intends to support and promote a scholarship of teaching and learning and to undertake and produce quality research, which would enhance the institutional research profile. In doing so, the institution supports national, regional and education-based research and development policies and strategies. The graduate institute will always strive to maximize the impact of research and to capitalize on the intellectual property of research output by staff members.

The aforementioned points of departure indicate that the institute is deliberately aware of the choice for an intellectual trajectory that should shape our understanding of the world in which we live. The rationale for the existence of the Two Oceans Graduate Institute carries a width and breadth, a depth and height that transcends the context. It provides an elevated viewpoint, to conceptualize an unfolding landscape, and therefore, meaningful insight. Constituted by wisdom, it comprises enough space to provide for a different research paradigm: innovative originality. Innovative originality perceives knowledge and knowledge production to be conceptual.

Inspired research engagement, in terms of its scope of understanding, reflects fundamental respect and acquaintance with the philosophy that carries the intellectual trajectory of which it is part, thus linked to origins, and originality. Its significance is not limited to its focus, but embedded in the range, the depth, of its understanding of the intellectual trajectory that is shaping the underpinning worldview. The erecting of the building to house the research platform and portfolio of the Two Oceans Graduate Institute is embedded in the paradigm conceptualized as innovative originality. The institutional research portfolio (its design, its footprints) will reveal the quality and integrity of humility, respect, truth, reliability, authenticity, accountability, truthfulness, associated with this human and academic project underpinned by its vision and mission, within the ambit of the paradigm it opted for.

I welcome you at our 2021 research sharing day and we are looking forward to every piece of research that will be shared. We thank the organizing committee chaired by Dr Isabel Tarling for heir initiative and guidance to make this event possible.
