Course Objectives:
Discuss how equality & diversity relate to our work and those we work with
Define, and distinguish between, prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination
Explore, identify and act on personal assumptions and attitudes to difference
Have a basic awareness of the law in relation to Equality & Diversity
Identify and use appropriate and up-to-date language and
terminology in relation to neurodiversity / neurodivergent conditions
Discuss some common misconceptions in relation to
neurodiverse conditions
Discuss how equality & diversity relate to our work and those we work with
Define, and distinguish between, prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination
Explore, identify and act on personal assumptions and attitudes to difference
Have a basic awareness of the law in relation to Equality & Diversity
Identify and use appropriate and up-to-date language and
terminology in relation to neurodiversity / neurodivergent conditions
Discuss some common misconceptions in relation to
neurodiverse conditions
Appreciate that neurodiverse
conditions, that can include a diverse range of impairments and abilities
Consider taking a neurodiverse view of ASC / ADHD / ADD and
other related / overlapping ‘spectrum’ conditions
Have an overview of symptoms, presentation and of people
with an ASC / ADHD / ADD presentation or diagnosis
Understand that the ‘profile’ – i.e. frequency, prevalence and intensity of these,
may change with age, life experience and support
Be aware that neurodivergent conditions may co -exist with
‘overlapping’ differences, and / or diagnoses - including learning disability
or difficulty, anxiety and/or other functional mental illnesses, unusual
behaviours and different sensitivity to sensory stimuli etc
Acknowledge that individuals will experience neurodivergent
conditions differently and are likely to need different levels of support /
reasonable adjustments
Feel more confident about why we need to consider neurodiversity in the workplace
Have an awareness of best practice / guidance in relation to neurodivergent conditions
Consider ways in which we may make reasonable adjustments for colleagues in neurodiverse staff teams
Identify, avoid and challenge different types of discrimination, victimisation and harassment
Consider ways in which we could work more inclusively with neurodiverse colleagues
Feel more confident about speaking up and challenging poor practice within an inclusive workplace environment

We will also highlight the seven deadly sins of corporate writing and show you how to avoid them.
What will I learn?

· plan your writing effectively and save time;
· be clear and concise;
· use plain English (it’s quite difficult to write simply); structure reports in a way that is logical, professional and easy to read;
and crack the facts-analysis-judgement approach.
