On September 12, 2018 we went the Rico Banana Farm on an island called Puerto Rico, in Guayanilla. When Hurricane Maria hit all of the all the banana plants where destroyed. They needed to plant all the bananas all over again. We had so much fun, and here is the story.

We started to make a line to get on the bus. All of the students and the teachers sat down on the seats and the bus started to go to the banana farm. There were some bumps on the way. Everyone was excited for this field trip. There was some music on the way. There were also some of the kids parents. We passed through Ponce to get to Guayanilla. We also saw some cars on the way to the Rico Banana farm.
As we arrived, we saw the fields of banana plants. We where amazed at all the banana plants that where planted there. Some banana plants were small and some of them where big. It had rained the night before so the fields where all muddy. It was one of the best field trips ever.

Mr. Rodriguez explained how the baby banana plants grow and change. First they plant the seeds in a little pot. The baby banana grows in the pot. When the plant is big enough, they will take it to the field and plant it. Then they water it and let it grow to be a big banana plant. Now we have to wait eight months until it will produce a banana.

When we got out of the bus Mr. Rodriguez explained to us about the banana plants. He told us that when the plant is an adult and it grows you can cut it. He showed us how he cuts the roots. Mr. Rodriguez cuts it with a machete. He told us that it takes a little bit longer, but the plant is stronger when it grows.
