Finally a quick stir, filling the pie tin, and a happy chef showing off his pie before it goes into the oven where the magic happens!

I love it when I get to experiment and test out or invent new recipes. I got inspired to make something savory with peaches by my dad who's always trying and throwing new things together in the kitchen. When you think of using peaches in a dish a dessert or sweet treat usually comes to mind, you don't normally see peaches in a savory setting. Which is why it was quite a challenge thinking of how I could use peaches in a way that didn't involve putting more sugar in them, that's when my creativity came to play. I realized that I had to use a different approach and look at the peach in another way. I mixed in ingredients and herbs that I thought wouldn't hide the tart and sweet peach but complement it instead. I went out into our garden and picked some fresh herbs like basil and parsley that I turned into a pesto. I knew that I wanted to use what we already had around the house, we had some pita bread and leftover chicken that I felt would work as a sandwich. I came into this project blind and open to new flavors, I felt like an artist trying to mix colors to find the best ones that would work with my piece. I peeled, cut, and washed my peach; I added some herbs, acid, honey, and some of the pesto that I used as a spread for the sandwich I wanted to play on the peaches existing flavors. It was trial and error and after tasting the peaches several times and spitting some out once I didn't give up and got what I thought would taste good. The whole time I was really skeptical but I was starting to feel like a true chef. I put everything together and put the sandwich in a makeshift panini press. To my surprise, the peaches tasted great and added so much to the simplicity of the meat, cheese, and pesto on the bread. I was so proud and shocked I gave some to my dad and my brother who both loved it. I learned to be open to new ingredients and flavors, my artistic abilities really helped me and I had a lot of fun creating and serving my family something new.

Creating this luscious dessert with my family was quite a thrill! My youngest, Emma participated each step of the way.&nbsp; Using this as a tool for education, we found fun ways of&nbsp; creating a hands-on activity that expanded her math, vocabulary, fine motor, and social skills.&nbsp; We carefully measured all of our ingredients, peeled and pitted peaches (quite messily) and layered the ingredients for baking.&nbsp; These turned out fantastic, with a crisp bite of almond flavor in the whimsical swirl of icing.

Make sugar cookies. Frost with cream cheese, powdered sugar,&nbsp;and vanilla. Put on peach slices. Top with a glaze made with pineapple juice, cornstarch,&nbsp;sugar,and lemon juice. Refrigerate.

Activity was the CAS strand my family and I engaged in when we made this summer peach drink. We really had to spring into action for this one. We tried to make a peach smoothie recipe first but we all agreed when we tried it that it ended up tasting really bad. We got creative by adding some different ingredients to try and save it but nothing worked. As a family we chose a different drink, grabbed the ingredients, and worked together to make a drink we all loved. Dad ran the blender since mom and I are kind of scared by it. It is pretty loud. Whole dad juiced the lemon my mom made sure no lemon seeds slipped through. While they did that I measured the water and sugar. We all said this will be a drink we'll make together again.

Creativity was the activity my family and I engaged in while making this desert. We used a fluted pan, which was a first for us, so the tart crust would look wavy on the side. We also topped the tart with peaches so that it looked nice. The tart had listed alcohol as an ingredient but we didn't want to add that so we got creative with the ingredients. We added a few teaspoons of vanilla syrup instead. We ended up creating something together that looked and tasted great.

To start this was a really fun experience, I had some unexpected turns and challenges along the way but I would say that I was able to come back from them and had a good result. I decided to make a peaches and cream-filled cake with some peach puree in the middle and oh was it a process; I don't think I would’ve been able to keep my calm so well without the encouragement and help of my parents. I love to bake and I always start with a plan but in this instance, things didn't go as I expected, it tested my patience, creativity, and persevering skills. Throughout this process and experience, I learned so much about myself like the fact that I can think and work on my feet, at first this cake was supposed to be a three-layered six-inch cake but as I took one of the cakes out of the pans it crumbled and broke apart. I looked at how much cake batter I had and realized that I had enough for two cakes and I was fine with that. When I began frosting and decorating my frosting nearly turned into butter so I used the cream from my peaches and cream filling instead I wasn't intending for this to happen but when I realized that my initial plan wasn't quite working I switched up my approach. I feel that I came into this project a little too confident and with a straight plan in mind. In my head, this cake was going to be easy and I was going to finish in a couple of hours. Although I had to change my cake halfway through it turned out so much better than I had planned. I'm really surprised and proud of my outcome. I learned that I have to be flexible and if things don't go as planned to be okay with that and change things up if I have to.

Glazed Pork Roast With Peach Salsa, Yams and Green Beans

As a family the kids and I created a dinner portion. Using a port roast we used the Instapot to cook the port and added grilled peaches and rosemary to the instapot to cook. It created a peach glaze and we chopped up peaches to make a peach salsa to dress the slices of pork. This is both creativity and activity because we did this as a family and were creative to use the peaches in both the cooking and dressing of the meal. We enjoyed dinner together and then boys made a peach dessert.

Stuffed Pork Chops With Caramelized Peaches, Apples and Onions

My family loves to cook as much as they love to eat . When we saw this event, we immediately thought dessert but then thought everybody will do dessert or a smoothie or something sweet. During this extra time home together, we have each been doing more cooking and having to be creative with what we find at the store especially in the beginning of this experience. We decided to do a savory dish which meant either an entree or an appetizer. We decided to do something we each could participate in so grilling for me , stove top cooking for my little brother Ben who is just starting to learn how to cook and my dad would supervise and cut up the fruits and vegetables&nbsp;while my mom would take pictures and make the sides. The dish we decided to make was stuffed pork chops with caramelized peaches , apples, and onions . We had a lot of fun cooking together and being creative as we decided how best to use the peach in our dish.

My name is Armando Murillo Quintana and I am in 3rd grade this year. My teacher is Miss Wyse. I enjoyed eating the peaches and apples that were given to us this year by my school. I love cutting my own apples and eating them just like that. The apples and peaches were very big, juicy and sweet. I helped my mom cut the apples and the peaches and I would eat them while I was in zoom classes. I also, helped my mom make peach and apple oatmeal cookies. They were delicious! I really enjoyed baking with my mom.

This is the best family project I have ever done and having to spend time with my family was great. I had fun doing this contest.

For the Peachpalooza I made Brown Sugar Peach Cupcakes. I made them with my mom. I learned a lot through this experience. I learned how to make a puree, how to use a bender, and how to brown butter. I also figured out that I like peaches! The only kind of peaches I’d had before were canned ones, but these ones were fresh and delicious! It was fun baking the cupcakes, but it took a long time. My mom and I spent hours making them, and it was worth it. The cupcakes were yummy and the icing was sweet. My favorite part was decorating the cupcakes with icing and a little peach slice. This was the first time that I iced with a piping bag. It was an amazing experience making these Brown Sugar Peach Cupcakes. I learned a lot, got to spend time with my mom, and I got to bake, something I love to do.

The term "à la mode" is a French and means that a dish is served with a portion of ice cream!

Easy Berry and Peach Cobbler With Homemade Peach Ice Cream

This is a great family activity and just fun. We love doing this on holiday so are whole family can enjoy it. I make the cobbler with my mom and my dad and brother make the ice cream. And it make me feel good that we can do it as a one big happy family. This is a great and fun thing we do with are family when we go camping or on the holidays. And people love the dessert when we make it and always ask for more. And it helps are community by feeding them the good food so they will be good to others. We are also sharing the recipe to friends and family. It is is good for potlucks so you can also share the recipe there as well. This is why it is a fun family and friend activity. I also hope this helps other families have some fun things that that they get to do get to do.

The third step to making the pie is the peach filling. Cut and peel the peaches.&nbsp; Add ¾ cup of sugar Add ¾ cup of flour Add ½ tsp of cinnamon Put in ¼ tsp of cloves Whisk together until well combined&nbsp; Pour in 5 cups of sliced Toss to coat the peaches

Place on of the piece that is rolled on the pie pan Next, pour in the peach filling Add on the top crust&nbsp; Pinch the top piece into a wavy form Or crimp the edge on the to dough with a fork.

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees fahrenheit when the oven is ready bake pie for 15 mins. When done bake pie again. Preheat the oven for 375 degrees fahrenheit when ready bake the pie for 40 mins.

For Peachpalooza I made a dessert. My mom helped me and we made peach frozen yogurt. My mom washed, peeled and cut the peaches. We put them in our blender. We added peach yogurt, sugar and vanilla extract. We blended it and made a peach smoothie. We could have stopped there but we didn't. We poured it into our frozen yogurt maker and turned it on for 20 mins. It made delicious frozen yogurt. I even topped it with some whipped cream. My sister made a peach hand pies so we ate it together. It was so yummy. We used C for creativity. Because we didn't have a recipe so we just made up our own. We also used A for activity. Because we did it ourself and we danced while we did it. We were listening to Kids Bop radio station.

For the peach palooza project I found a recipe to make peach streusel muffins. I chose this recipe because the description sounded mouth-watering and I wanted a more challenging recipe. After getting the ingredients for the muffins we realized that we didn’t have plain yogurt that the recipe called for but we did have strawberry yogurt. We thought it would be a creative twist to use the strawberry yogurt instead of the plain yogurt, and we were right it was a delicious. This was a fun activity that my mom and I did together and a special treat for the entire family to enjoy. For the SJVA Peachpalooza Cooking Festival my mom and I took a couple of days to decide what to make. First, we thought let’s make a dessert because we like to bake but then we thought let’s be creative. When you think of peaches, I think of something sweet, like a dessert. I didn’t want to make a dessert, so I looked on the internet for peach recipes. I saw Peach Salsa and thought I like Strawberry Pineapple salsa why not try peaches. I used to eat strawberry pineapple salsa with chicken and rice so that was my inspiration. This is how I believe Peach Salsa is creative.&nbsp; When my mom cooks or bakes, I like to help in the kitchen and she usually gives me something simple to help with. This time I prepped, diced, and cooked most of the meal myself.&nbsp; This is an activity that I was able to do with my mom. She and I had fun preparing what I would say and how to make this dish. Not only is this dish creative and I shared an activity with my mom, it is a healthy. It is healthy because it has fresh fruit and vegetables in the salsa and chicken is good a protein. The dish was delicious and fit into the school’s CAS: creativity, activity, and service. Hope you enjoy my video.

“I made "Peach, Plum, Lemonade." I wanted to make something different than my sister and brother. I like to drink juice so me and my mom thought it would be fun to try a new juice. I wasn't very good at cutting the peaches and plums. I was a little nervous about how it would taste. It actually was pretty good!” -Austin Kowallis’ Reflection

Activity was the CAS strand my family and I engaged in while making these peach baby back ribs. We all had to work together to make it happen. My dad cut and trimmed the ribs since my mom and I had never done anything like that before. While he did that my mom and I mixed the BBQ sauce, peaches, onions, and jalapenos together. Our teamwork made the ribs a success. My dad took some to work and two people asked for the recipe.

With the peaches, provided by San Jacinto Valley Academy, we have decided to create fried peach pie for our dessert, using my great grandmother’s recipe. For our creativity portion we put would insert little, handmade, drawings varying from leaves, to hearts, to butterflies. Secondly for our activity we took turns photographing each other accomplished the steps. We photographed, each other peeling and chopping the peaches provided, as well as transferring the filling. Also, cooking the filling, and the actual pie. Lastly for the service portion of this activity we have delivered a pie to our neighbor and our vice principal. Both have done so much for us in their own unique way. Our neighbor has taken care of our animals as we are away so many times, she is very dependable for everything that we need. Our vice principal has been working very hard alongside our teachers so we felt that he deserved one. My dad and I made peach caramelized pork chops. I fried the pork chops and helped caramelize the peaches while my dad mixed ingredients. This came out so good for dinner that night.&nbsp; We also had peach cheesecake for dinner that night, it was a nice family dinner.

For this salad my husband and I made a grilled chicken salad with grilled peaches.&nbsp; He has been working in the fires lately and we are trying to eat healthier.&nbsp; So instead of making him a dessert I tried to incorporate the peaches into his grilled chicken salad.&nbsp; So it was hot out Saturday, we were busy cleaning the yards and then enjoyed a nice salad with grilled peaches...&nbsp; I've only enjoyed regular peaches or peaches for dessert and now you have had me think outside the box and find new ways to incorporate peaches into our meals.

For the Peachpalooza I made a peach-acai mixed berry smoothie. I did it with my mom. We used 2 large fresh peaches, raspberries, blue berries, pineapple, acai cubes, and cranberry juice. While making the smoothie my mom showed me how to cut safely and how to use a blender. We made enough for all four of our family to try. My mom, my dad, my sister, and I tried it and loved it! The smoothie was delicious and a little sour. I had so much fun making the smoothie with my mom. I had never used fresh peaches for a smoothie before.

I thought it would be fun to make something to drink using the peaches. I got the idea because we had a Mango so I thought we could join the two together. I went online and searched up some recipes for peaches and a mango. I found one that only used two peaches and one mango, fat free peach yogurt, orange peach mango juice, and ice. My dad showed me how to peel the skin off of the peaches and slice them to put into the blender. Then we had to peel the mango and slice that too. We added the yogurt, juice and ice to blend it. It was delicious! My whole family loved it and we even shared it with my grandma. I had lots of fun cooking with my dad and my mom took the pictures and video. I decided to make something easy and unique with my peaches. I combined my love for biscuits with cheese and peaches. My daughter inspires me to try new things and challenges me to use ingredients that I would normally not put together. Brie cheese has a very distinctive flavor which compliments the sweetness of the fresh peaches (Creativity.) Refrigerator biscuit dough saves time when making these Peach Pie Biscuit Bombs. I chopped peaches and brie cheese (Activity.) I will be taking these to work so that my co-workers can try them (Service.) As I reflect on my time this morning, I would put more peaches inside, a bit more honey, and I would pinch the edges even tighter so the yummy goodness inside doesn’t run out while baking. The smell in my kitchen was heavenly which, of course, was a great service to my family!!

These are my Ginger Peachy tacos. I love to cook for my family learning new recipes, challenging myself with things I've never made. I used the delicious fresh peaches and made a peach filling. The ginger gives it a warm pie effect. They were a hit at our house. Cooking is very therapeutic for me. Entering this contest will be the first of many. Thank you SJVA and Miss Penny.

“Hi, my name is Sabah mangrio. I am in 6th grade. I have baked a peach upside - down cake. A peach upside - down cake is a cake that is baked with peaches on the bottom and cake batter on top. After I baked this and it came out of the oven I immediately flipped it. Then i sprinkled cinnamon on top. This entry will be in the dessert category.”

This pie and tea was delicious when I ate it we made peach pie with cornstarch pie crust sugar, 6 peaches, lemon juice,, and vanilla extract, we put the pie in the oven for 350 degrees for 15 min and then it was done. I made my tea with 5 peaches 7 lemons a little salt half a cup of sugar and blend it together and drained all the chunks out and had my tea done. Both were delicious and my mom and dad loved it!

Hi my name is Fabian Canales and for the peachpalooza contest I brainstorm with my mom about different things we can make . We thought about making peach pie, peach jelly, peach smoothie, peach milk shakes..but we decided to make a tres leches Peach gelatin. It was fun measuring and cutting the ingredients. It takes a few steps to make the design. First we had to create the peach flower design and while my mom was making the clear jello I was cutting the peaches my school gave me. After the peaches where placed on a&nbsp;round mold ,we had to wait for 5minutes. Meanwhile we waited I started cutting cubes of peach gelatin that my mom made earlier that day. When I finished cutting the jello my mom started making the tres leches mix ,I pour the ingredients into the blender .condensed milk, evaporated milk regular milk and cream cheese ,when everything was mixed my mom added clear gelatin and mixed it with a hand mixer. After that we added the milk mix to the round mold and placed it in the refrigerator. We had to wait until the next day to actually eat it ,because the gelatin had to get firm .the next day when the gelatin was ready my mom got a round plate to place the gelatin in .I was a little&nbsp;nervous when my mom took it off the round mold I thought it was going to fall apart ,but when I saw it come out in one piece I was really happy. My mom cut a slice of jello for me to try and it was delicious can’t wait to make it again for the holidays.

The second step is to make the pie crust. Add 3 cups of flour, twice sifted Add 1 tsp of salt Create a hole in the middle for wet ingredients. Add ¾ cup of melted butter&nbsp; Add ½ cup of milk Fold the ingredients together in a bowl until the dough forms Knead together by hand Divide the dough into 2 pieces Roll out the both pieces of dough between to sheets of wax paper
