MUSIC HAS NO BARRIERS

There is a kind of silence in Croatian society when it comes to people with disabilities. People with disabilities find it difficult to function in society on a daily basis. Basic things, such as education, public transport, entering institutions, education or later finding a job are in most cases not adapted for people with disabilities.

Not much is known in Croatia about people with disabilities who play music.

Violinmusic4all

Exploring musicians with physical disabilities, we also found deaf-mute girls playing the violin. This is the Violinmusic4all project. It is a project aimed at learning to play the violin of a deaf person, but also people and children with mental and physical disabilities. The goal is to unite people with various forms of disabilities and enable them to develop creativity and perform music.

Deaf Band Dlan is a six-member band formed on the initiative of the Deaf members of the Association "Theater, Audiovisual Arts and Culture of the Deaf - DLAN" within the project Right to Art produced by the Cultural Center of the Public Open University Zagreb. The band consists of five deaf people.
