On a sunny day in Pennsylvania, Layah was enjoying the summer. Layah just turned eleven a month ago. She didn’t have a party or anything like that. Instead she celebrated with family, and Layah got something, undoubtedly, better than a party. Layah got a puppy and a kitten (her favorite). Although all animals are her favorite, except scary animals like snakes that are venomous, and spiders, particularly tarantulas.
“Hmm…’’ Layah muttered, “Which one?” She stared between two dog toys, she had already chosen a few cat toys, and a litter tray. Her hair fell onto her shoulder, the rest of her straight brown hair didn’t. Just then she found a toy that caught her light brown eyes…a dog bone.
After a while with the vet, they all went home. Layah was finally ready to name her pets, but what? Layah wondered.
On her birthday Layah also visited the pet store. On the walls there were pictures of cats, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, and even rats, framed in a gold design with paws all around it. In the display, there were dog leashes, cages for hamsters and bunnies, as well as cat toys. Layah decided blue collars for both kitten and puppy would be perfect, Layah realized.
“Meow?” meowed the cat.
“Woof!” woofed the dog.
“Woof!” woofed the dog.
It suddenly came to her. She will call the dog Woofy and the cat Meeowy. After a while the amazing first day passed, and Layah drifted off to sleep.

The room was so dark, Woofy could barely see his front paw. The curtain was closed, not even a sliver of light came through. Woofy took one step back, he felt something soft and furry.

“Meeooww!” meowed Meeowy.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!” Woofy barked.
Suddenly, Layah woke up from all the commotion.
“What in the world is going on?!” Layah shouted.
All that came in response was a little meow and woof. [Sigh] It’s going to be a long night, Layah thought, getting out of bed, and as a result she knew it was going to be a rough day tomorrow.

Just then Woofy stood up, lifted his hind leg, and… Layah obviously screamed in terror at the situation, rather than lay there in silence. Meeowy jumped off, straightened her body, and…
“Oh no!”
“Oh no!”
The next day Layah opened her eyes only to find herself resting on the sofa in the living room. It wasn’t quite morning yet; for instance, no sun was peeking out of the curtains and no one was awake yet.
“Ouf!” Layah laid staring at Woofy who was starting to get comfy on her chest. Therefore, the kitten decided to join.
“Ouf! Meeowy! Guys get off of me!” Layah sighed.
“Woof!” Woofy barked an alarming bark, as if in spite of everything that went wrong, something else could happen.

That afternoon, Layah was on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor thanks to her sleepy kitten, and then the sofa thanks to her starving dog!? Layah watched as Woofy stuck a paw on his doggy bowl, looking down. Meeowy started staring down at her food bowl, too! Suddenly, the silence broke as Meeowy broke into meows.
“Meow! Meow! Meeoow!! Mmeeoooww!!! Meow! Meow!” Meeowy meowed like wild.

It was time to feed them both. Woofy and Meeowy followed Layah into the kitchen begging for food. Meeowy was desperate for food, so instead of waiting any longer, she leaped onto Woofy, and then onto the counter. Oh no! Layah thought. When Meeowy leaped, Woofy did, too.
Layah had already opened both cans of food, for both puppy and kitten.
“Meow! Meow! Meeow!!” Meeowy kept meowing until she found her food.
“Meow! Meow!” Meeowy said, thanking Layah as if she saved her life.

Afterwards, Woofy wanted to play while Meeowy was still licking her lips. Woofy went to grab the dog bone that Layah bought for him, as well as Meeowy’s cat toys. Certainly, Woofy and Meeowy wanted to play, Layah sensed.
“Okay! Okay! We can play, as long as you both don’t cause more problems!” Layah declared to her pets.

“Woof! Woof!” Woofy agreed, with his bone still in his jaw, wagging his tail.
“Mow, meow!” Meeowy agreed as well.
“Phew, no more problems… hopefully!” Layah hoped.
She picked up a ball and threw it across the room. Just as the ball was in the air, Woofy dashed as fast as his puppy legs could take him. The ball slammed into a jar of ink, causing it to fall and smash into many pieces and letting all the ink out. Woofy ran across the ink after he caught the ball.
“Woofy, nooo!” Layah scolded.
But it was too late. Woofy came right in front of Layah, leaving ink paw prints everywhere behind him!
“Meowwww!” Meeowy freaked out.
She didn’t know what to think of the ink, so she jumped up and tried to grab onto the sofa with her claws!
“Meeowy, stop!” Layah yelled.
