Respect is an important thing, and every one deserves to be respected. Sixth grade is just as important as the others. However, according to a survey, most sixth graders feel disrespected by the older grades. Most of the time the older graders say that the sixth graders are short and dumb and even call them names. In one of the responses, it even talks about how some older kids are talking about how sixth grade aren't smart enough to do anything! Even though sixth grade is the youngest grade at Gainesville Middle, it does not mean that they deserve to be treated poorly. The next time you have a chance to interact with a 6th grader try meeting them with kindness and remember you were once in their shoes. Words by: Cailyn Pebenito

Mighty Mighty Mercury!
Mrs. Sherin teaches both 7th grade Language Arts and Creative Writing. Also, she is the leader of house Mercury. She feels pumped that Mercury is in first, but thinks they still need to work hard to earn more house points. Mrs. Sherin, Mrs. Davis, Ms. Hawkins, and Ms. Hooten helped make all the house attributes (color, animal, and name) at the Ron Clark academy in Atlanta, Georgia in June 2023. Everyone is excited about the house system. In conclusion, it makes school more fun and brings students together. Students should think about doing their best to earn house points! “Go mighty Mercury!”

INNOVATION ARE YOU IN?
Ms. Hooten is a teacher in 8th grade that teaches Civics & Language Arts and 6th grade Journalism. She is also the house leader of house Innovation. Ms. Hooten was extremely excited when House Innovation was in first place. Now, she is hopefully that her team can claim the top spot again. According to Ms. Hooten, the house points help with students' motivation because many students are trying to get house points. Students will hopefully monitor their behavior in an effort to help their house claim the top spot. Now it is time for a little chant. The innovation chant, WHO YOU WITH!? INNNOO-VAATION CLAP* CLAP* CLAP* CLAP* CLAP*.
