This story is about the Sustainable Squirrel and her job to reduce the amount of trash she sees in her city. She helps her friends come up with ideas on ways to reduce the amount of garbage they are throwing away. The items the characters are throwing away were deliberately chosen to emulate real-life experiences that children may have with a specific focus on over consumption.

The illustrations were all done by hand by Samantha Clay.

The sustainable squirrel was walking down the sidewalk in the city when she saw a big, HUGE pile of garbage!
The sustainable squirrel wondered who was throwing away all the garbage! She sat and waited for somebody to come by.
Thought Bubble
The fashionable frog came and threw away brand new clothes with the tags still on them.
"Why are you throwing that away?" asked the Sustainable Squirrel.

"These are not fashionable anymore, I need to buy the newest clothes from my fashion magazine," explained the Fashionable Frog.
"It takes a lot of materials to make new clothing, if you always buy new clothes the old ones eventually end up in the garbage." the Sustainable Squirrel explained.

"Instead why don't you use your clothes until you need new ones, then we will put less waste in the landfill. You can also recycle your clothes or donate them to someone in need!"
Speech Bubble
The Fashionable Frog thought about what the Sustainable Squirrel had said and decided, "I will not buy new clothing unless I need it from now on." She walked away happily.
