It seems impossible to believe we are at the end of the Autumn term already! We have certainly packed an awful lot in to the last few months and especially the last few weeks. I am so proud of all our children and how they have conducted themselves during the many activities that have taken place. Every single one of them has been sensible, kind and respectful. They have visited many different places in the community and represented our school perfectly.
Many thanks to all of you for your continued support. We have been delighted to welcome so many of you into our school over the last few weeks and I hope you all enjoyed watching the children perform.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of FOTA for the endless work they do raising funds for us, especially at this time of year. The money they raise helps us to provide so many extracurricular activities for the children and to create many special memories. A big thank you must also go to you all for supporting these events.
As the end of term is nearly here, please can I remind you that we finish at 1:30pm on Tuesday. I wish you all a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
Maria Rundle Head of School
Holidays During Term Time The law changed in September 2013 and schools no longer have the freedom to allow parents to take their children out of school. Under current regulations, head teachers may not grant leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Applications for "Exceptional Circumstance Leave" must be submitted to Mrs Rundle at least 14 days before taking your child out of school. You can be fined for taking your child on holiday during term time without permission.
We are seeing an increase in children being late to school. Even 5 minutes can have a huge impact on your child's day. Not only is it difficult for a child to enter a room late, they can also miss important information, as well as literacy and numeracy practices. Please get your child to school on time!
On occasion children are too poorly to attend school. Please make sure that you contact us each morning of the absence before 8:45m. Thank you.
Rocksteady News Our rocksteady bands are filling up fast. We have now opened a new out of school hours band (3pm-3-30pm) for pupils. If you are interested or wish to register interest and go on a waiting list please contact the rocksteady office at www.rocksteadymusicschool.com
We also would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to Scott on his promotion. We are sorry to see him go and wish him well for his future and welcome to Arianne who will be starting in the new year as Treverbyn's Band Leader.
We would like to start by welcoming 2 new members of staff to our team. Tiffany is our new deputy Nursery Lead and also the room leader in Dragonflies room. Abbie has joined the team in our Damselflies room. Big congratulations to Kirsty who is now the Room Leader in Damselflies. Elaine and Tiffany would like to thank you all for your patience whilst we all our find our feet in our new roles and make some changes within the nursery to give your children the best positive outcomes in their learning journey
We raised a fantastic £90 for Children In Need - thank you! A big thank you to everyone that attended our Christingle Performance on Friday, the children and staff put a lot of effort into preparing this and it really did show on the day. We were so proud of them!
In January we will be starting up regular Forest School Sessions for all ages that attend the nursery and we are very excited to let the children really get to grips with the outdoors ‘ Nature Exposure Improves Mental Health Cognition and Behaviour in Children’ –(Greenmatters)
Reception - Mrs Kearton
This half term in Menabilly has seen some fabulous progress. We have really grown strong in our name writing skills and to see our weekly writing develop has made the Reception team very proud. The hard work the children have put into their phonics has certainly paid off!!! We have been very busy mathematicians too. We have been becoming super confident in our number knowledge to 5 and in our shape knowledge, and counting abilities!
As always Christmas means that we have to work hard to produce our annual Christmas play and this year did not disappoint, with some real festivity and fabulous singing. This was seen again at our Carol Concert in the Church on Wednesday. What Christmas stars we have in Menabilly!!
Wishing you the very merriest and happiest of Christmas's to you all and we look forward to seeing you in 2024!
