Year 5 have had an amazing and very busy term, we have taken part in a massive array of sporting activities, representing our school at the Aspire Year 5 games, 19 of our girls going to the Girls football festival, starting our path on as Playground leaders and running a sporting festival at school with the help of the Poltair Sports trust. We also threw in a bit more sailing and paddleboarding for good measure! At the same time we squeezed in lots of maths, exploring and finding out about rivers, making 3D river models to show the journey they take and explain the different features along the way and lots more. We are very excited about moving to Year 6 together, see you round the other side of the school in&nbsp;September!&nbsp;

Year 1 - Mrs Robins and Miss Philp

Year 1 have been working so hard this final term. The children enjoyed a fantastic trip to Newquay Zoo, have completed their Phonics Screening Checks as well as completing all of our everyday learning. We have worked hard on Geometry in Maths and have written our own versions of 'how the tortoise got it's shell.' We are so proud of all that the children have achieved this year and know they are all so ready for Year 2 and we can't wait to welcome them back in September. As always, we can't thank you all enough for the support this year and wish you all a fantastic summer holidays!

The Aspire Academy Trust has high aspirations and expectations for all children. Research has shown that missing school can mean a child is less likely to achieve good grades, which can have a damaging effect on their future life chances. For all Aspire schools, the attendance threshold is set at 96%, in line with national attendance data. We will strive to work with parents and children to remove barriers to attendance to ensure all children can access, participate and actively engage with their learning.&nbsp; Our local authority has updated their procedures for the issue of penalty notices in relation to poor school attendance. Subsequently we have had to review our own Aspire Academy Trust Attendance policy to reflect the revised requirements. A copy of the policy can be found on our school website www.treverbyn.org.uk. As always we wish to work with you to achieve the best possible outcome for your child and endeavour to provide support where necessary to encourage good attendance. Newsletter Summer Term 2

Welcome to the last newsletter of the Summer term!&nbsp;&nbsp; It seems incredible that we are nearly at the end of this academic year, and what a year it has been! There have been so many wonderful events throughout the school year and we are so pleased to be able to continue to offer our pupils such a wonderful range of opportunities.&nbsp; This is a term of arrivals and departures and for some of you it will be the end of your journey with Treverbyn. I would like to thank you all for your continued support over my first year as Head of School and I look forward to welcoming our new parents to the school community.&nbsp; I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible FOTA team for all they do to raise funds to support our school. This year they have supported with trips, new resources for the nursery and fully funded the Y6 leavers hoodies. They work tirelessly for our school and always need new volunteers so if you can offer your help please do. Thank you for supporting all the events they have put on this year.&nbsp; I cannot end the year without sending our love and good wishes to all our wonderful Y6 pupils who will soon be leaving us to start their secondary school career. Year 6 - Mr Freckelton and Mr Bray

Year 6 have been enjoying a very exciting term so far. It has been full steam ahead for our end of term production, 'School Dayz'. The pupils have really risen to the challenges of this by fulfilling a superb range of roles both on and off stage. Please look out for a letter about performance dates and character information.&nbsp; The pupils have also been preparing for their imminent transition to secondary school with visits to Poltair, Penrice and Brannel. The pupils are taking the opportunity to address any worries that they may have and find out information to help them build confidence about the next step in their education.&nbsp;We have also taken time to look back on their favourite memories from their time at Treverbyn and these will be shared during our leavers events at the end of the term.&nbsp;&nbsp; It has been wonderful to have our weekly trips to the beach for our sailing sessions - our enormous thanks to the Roseland Youth Sailing Trust and Polkerris Beach. We are also looking forward to our swimming sessions later in the term.&nbsp; We have enjoyed the NSPCC 'Speak Out Stay Safe' sessions and a 'Be Internet Legends' event to help them identify ways of keeping themselves safe through their move to a new school.&nbsp;&nbsp; Within all of that, we also found time to go away on our residential to PGL! The pupils who joined the trip had an incredible time and those who remained at school enjoyed a superb selection of activities.&nbsp;

Year 2 have been really enjoying their Summer Term learning! We have been doing lots of singing practice, learning songs for our music concert and learning pirate sea shanties with instruments! We have been doing lots of amazing writing including: a wanted poster for the pesky pirate Blackbeard, a factual report about famous pirates, some rhyming sea poetry and a report about sea creatures. We are lucky enough to have a visit from The Blue Reef Aquarium on Thursday where we get to see and handle lots of rockpool creatures. We are also lucky enough to be going on a visit to Porthpean beach as part of our Geography learning on July 14th&nbsp;(Friday 14.7.23). More information will be sent out very soon about this.

Year 4 - Mrs Freckelton &amp; Mrs George

What a busy way to end Year 4! Over the last couple of weeks, Y4 have worked hard to create a collaborative piece of artwork for their entry for this year's Kingfisher Award and have also been busy creating their own Egyptian pharaoh masks in D.T. We are also incredibly proud of their MTC results- a class average of 22 out of 25! Remarkable- and a true reflection of their dedication and perseverance over the course of the year. We just want to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your continued support - the class have been a delight to teach and we hope we have made some lifelong memories for them. This Half term we have been focusing on everything beach and sea !!!&nbsp;We have explored different stories and produced some wonderful writing about the characters and the storylines!&nbsp;An example of this was when we made mermaids and wrote about them.&nbsp;We have looked at sea creatures and habitats in the sea and at the beach.&nbsp; In maths we have been exploring, doubling, halving, odd, evens and counting in 2's.&nbsp;We have developed such great maths minds with such a rich mathematical language from everything we have learned this year. We have also been beginning our transition to year one. We have met Miss Warn and explored the new classroom.&nbsp;Lots of very excited children, looking forward to becoming year 1 pupils!

Year 3 have been very busy this term learning about the Romans and the changes they made to Britain. We have learnt about the origin of Rome through reading the story of Romulus and Remus. We have also planned and written out own origin story. The class are very excited about what year 4 is all about and are excited to have two teachers during the week, double the fun and double the learning The class are becoming great designers, using their plans and problem-solving skills to build their own chariots with working axel. They are excited to show you all what they can do with some old cereal boxes. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and that the year 3 class have been wonderful to teach and I couldn’t have asked for a better first class to have. I have also appreciated the very approachable and friendly nature of the parents at the door and all the support you have given your children this year. I am very sad to be leaving Treverbyn but I am just as excited about my new adventure as your children are about theirs. I can’t wait to hear about how they have been getting on in year 4.

Damselflies have enjoyed reading, "That's not my Pirate". They have made pirate ships, hats and have been looking for treasure (gold coins in the sand). Dragonflies have been reading "The Scarecrows Wedding". They have been ordering numbers 1-5 using the fish from Under the sea week. The Dragonflies also painted some abstract underwater scenes, and are learning what the word "abstract" means. All of the children have loved exploring our new furniture. The new environment has really enhanced the children's creative learning, with lots of loose parts and areas for imaginative play, as well as the opportunity to develop communication and language.
