Task 1.2 Teaching philosophy I believe that education is the key to our success because the more you gain knowledge in education the more opportunities will be opened to allow people achieve better responsibilities in career. In this philosophy I will discuss the views of what is learning and knowledge to me. The philosophy will further discuss views about the role of teachers in teaching and learning. Lastly, the philosophy will also discuss my beliefs about how teaching should be conducted and how learners learn best in the classroom.
The view of learning and knowledge. From my knowledge, Learning is a process of gaining knowledge. It is about what learners do. Learning can happen at home or in school. For example, at home learners learn language. I believe that to facilitate learning process teachers should guide learners when learning. However, meaning learning depends on cognitive activity of the students during learning. Learners construct knowledge better when there are visual and verbal representation. When pictures are present, learners have an opportunity to construct verbal mental model and build connections. As a future teacher, I am willing to use resources when teaching learners. This includes using pictures and audios. In addition, using resources can accommodate different learning styles as there are visual learners, auditory learners etc.
The role of teachers in teaching and learning. I believe that my role as a teacher is to teach learners knowledge that they can use and apply it to their own lives. When teaching learners with different learning abilities in class, I believe that as a teacher I must consider all different learning abilities. As this will help me in having knowledge of how learners learn and also how I should create assessments that will benefit all learners. Different strategies can be applied when teaching learners with different learning abilities. However, these strategies include small group work, cooperative or role play.
As a teacher it is my responsibility to select lesson that will help students achieve the lesson outcomes. The selected content must be related to the outcomes. However, when choosing the lesson content, I must try to use some examples that will make the lesson easier for learner, for learners to understand the content that is presented to them. In addition, the role of teachers is to create an environment that is inclusive, supportive to all learners and the teacher should be able to address learning barriers. When assessing learners from under resourced schools, the activities must be practical.
This paragraph will discuss personal justified goals for my pupils. As a future teacher I’m willing to produce learners who are able solve problems and make informed decisions using critical thinking skill. However, using this skill will guide them realize how their informed decision affect themselves and others. In addition, I’m willing to produce learners who are able to communicate effectively and also learners who are able to use science or knowledge. This includes being able to take care of the environment they live in.

Task 1.3 Reflection for Online microteach
What did you like and dislike about
online teaching?
- It improved my technical abilities as it was my first-time teaching using online platform
- Freedom and comfort: Teaching online
allowed me to teach from the comfort of my home. There’s no need to be in a particular teaching room at a certain time for a specific duration. I would teach a lesson about renewable sitting on sofa.
- Learners are more confident compared
to classroom. They asked questions, initiate discussions and provide answers.
- What I dislike about online teaching
is that, online classes are prone to technical issues. Some of the learners experienced connection issues.
- For many learners, one of the biggest challenges of online learning is the struggle with focusing on the screen for long periods of time. With online learning, there is also a greater chance for learners to be easily
distracted by social media or other sites

- Patience: I learned to be patient especially
with regards to network issues and waiting for learners to type their answers.
