The world needs citizen scientists because if everyone was a scientist they would be working on all different projects. If there were no citizen scientists big scientists would not have anyone to volunteer and help with the big projects.

I think there is a tsunami simulator in the visitor center so that even when you use all the LEGO pieces you can still be knocked down by the wave. The tsunami simulator shows a small and less powerful version of a tsunami so that you can get an idea of how that dock from Japan got all the way to Oregon from one massive earthquake.

I am looking forward to seeing the moon snail because, they are really interesting and there also pretty rare. The moon snail puts a small hole in clams and sucks out the inside of the clam which is cool.

I am looking forward to the zip lining because zip lining is really fun !

Because the kind of beach is very rare and if everyone takes a rock the beach would be gone.

I thought the Audubon society was very cool and eye opening. My favorite part was definitely the night walk in the forest with the candle and covering one eye was a really cool and interesting experience. The reason the Audubon society is so important is because not only do they save hundreds of animals a year,  but if they are imprinted Audubon takes care of them not just released them into the wild and let them die. The Audubon society not only takes birds but any animal that needs help. I really liked how we were sleeping in a gift shop, the only thing keeping us up was mr.hughes snoring but we forgave him. If you have not been to the Audubon society I definitely recommend it. 

I learned that the more male sea lions bark the bigger their forehead gets. This is useful for when it’s mating season.

Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

I would want to cross the bar because it would be an incredible accomplishment.  Attempting to cross the bar has killed thousands of people and that is why people would not want to cross it. The bar has killed thousands of people and destroyed tones of boats and you are very likely to die. So I would rather not try to cross the bar and not die like the thousand other people who have died.

The Astoria Column built in 1926 is 125 feet tall and is covered on the outside by a painting of battles that depicts earlist  moments in the Northwest United States.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigatable harbor. On March 11, 2001, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of oregon.

 The reason the Tillamook cheese factory is where it is, is because Dairy farms were established in the Tillamook valley starting in the mid 1850s. In 1909 several small creameries joined together to make the highest quality and the best dairy products.

Columbia River Maritime Museum First Nations Section

The First Nations were really successful in trade. They traded lots of furs and clothing. By 1810 the sea otter population was declining due to the successful trading by the First Nations. 

I learned a lot at Fort Stevens, about the civil war and World War 2. They have so many ideas of defense including earth forts and the grass hills that absorb the cannon balls. The coolest thing was the 360 degree disappearing rifle, it was one of two in the world and they never even had to shoot it. Our guide was very nice and knew everything about the bunkers. I thought Fort Stevens was a very cool stop and I would definitely go back.

We had to race crabs using the scientific method, my groups out put was that the bigger green crabs are faster than the grey crabs.

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

Our ROV did pretty well, we had some challenges such as, the up button on the controller did not work and the magnet was in a bad place so the first few rounds we lost. In the last round we changed the magnet around and we came back and won the last round. I would definitely change the placement of the up and down motor show it is straight up and down because if you can see in the video the motor is on an angle and would not go up strait, only on an angle.

Cannon Beach is most well known for haystack Rock. It is sometimes called the worlds largest intertidal rock in the world.
