Chapter 1:
NARRATIVE
FABLES

An ostrich, the puffy wings and the stretched neck, ran like a terrified Pampa, coming and going everywhere.
Spring was approaching, and everywhere, you could see bulls, ducks and partridges, pigeons and other birds preparing the nests, busy to prepare everything necessary for the next brood.
They all looked at the ostrich with admiration, and since they did not understand the reason for their wanderings, they thought that when they don't understand, they think that they had gone crazy. As Don Churri is a short-tempered person, no one dared to ask him why he had to run like this, instead of remembering, like other people, the season that was beginning and the new family that had to be formed.
Only a hammerhead with whom he was in very good relations, one day, let him understand that his conduct gave a lot to talk about. The ostrich answered that the strangest behavior of all the other birds was that, without rhyme or reason, without knowing what they were doing, they were building nests everywhere and laying eggs without counting.
The Ostrich and partridge
"That the hen does so," he said, "is still understood, because if something is missing, the man gives it to him ... (and you know why); but we Wild birds, with no other resources than those provided by nature, must be farsighted and think about the future. This year is one of drought; there will be little grass, and before starting a family, it seems necessary to me to see first where I can take my wives, to keep them well, and how many I can keep, and how many chicks each one can raise. And this is why, before deciding, I study the matter.
