STEM activity: Balloon Race The science behind balloon races. When you blow up the balloon you are filling it up with air that is under pressure. When the air escapes from the balloon the escaping air exerts thrust or force on the balloon which propels it forward. The air escapes backward – the balloon races forward. Action – reaction. Or more formally known as Newton’s Third Law of Motion.

Robotics: LegoWeDo Kids love building with Legos! By adding coding and robotics to Legos, imagination is truly brought to life. The Lego WEDO 2.0 program is the perfect blend between building, coding and robotics. Lessons range from kindergarten to middle school levels. Students will need an iPad&nbsp;with the WEDO app in order to be able to complete the programming. Each lesson is designed to have extensions.

 Children with their last child are given boxes, colored paper, scissors and decorations. In cooperation with the children, the imagination of a machine in which the paper can be recycled is envisaged. Children are designing the recycling machine with the distribution of tasks. Finally, the process is completed by reminding that all wastes should be thrown into recycling bins.

STEM - Engineering activity: ART bots Art Bots or Scribble Bots are great fun and provide many investigative opportunities. This simple version uses a small motor and pens fixed around a pot. The motor makes the arm (glue stick or cork) spin, which in turn makes the Scribble Bot move. We make various changes to see the different implementations&nbsp;like we try the pens higher and lower and investigate how this changes the drawing.

Robotics: Sphero Robots Our students have been learning how to use a Sphero for the past few years. A Sphero is a robotic toy that is controlled through apps and makes it easy for students to learn robotic basics and how to code. Coding in the kindergarten can be implemented by drawing!

Stem Study: How to prevent air pollution?

With these musical instruments, we plan to explore the use of sound(science) by thinking about how to use the materials (technology) by using design (engineering) by measuring (mathematics).

Here's a sample of our work on one of our school's flagship projects. In it, we mix STEAM and robotics content using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the background and common thread. Through these activities, we develop their digital competence, their skills with new technologies, and their computational thinking.

In the 3rd STAGE (EVERYTHING IS READY FOR COMPOST), we started to prepare our compost in order to contribute to the recycling of the materials we prepared and to remove the circular from the soil. To distribute the compost materials in our container, under which we opened our luggage, we placed it somewhere, we added soil in between and completed our compost, finally we added a small amount of water.

A Recycling Story Paper's Journey &nbsp;In Stage 1, children come together and brainstorm What is Recycling? seeks an answer to the question. Children's answers are not given on the board. The child in the image defines Recycling as the recycling and reuse of waste in factories. The other boy replied like a bottle.

Stage 4 is passed. In Stage 3 One of the children answers that if we wet their letter again, we can make dough. Pulp with the kids starting from that answer. Leftover papers are torn small and moistened with hot water. Necessary materials are added for the dough to crack after drying. Children make original decorations with the pulp they prepared. They design the recycling factory products in some children's stories. The control performed is displayed.

In the 2nd stage, the story book called Recycling Study is read. In the story, there is a recycling factory where wastes are separated and recycled according to their own characteristics.

In the 3rd stage, the leftover papers that were once collected in the classroom are examined on the tables. How can we contribute to recycling with the waste paper collected with children, the answer is sought.

Through these activities, we make our students aware in an innovative and extremely fun way of current social problems and their possible solutions. We create a global cultural awareness and open the borders of their thinking through teamwork, manipulative, handmade and increasingly autonomous work.

STEM PROJECT EVENT 1st stage: (awareness): first of all, what is compost? How is compost made? We did complex studies with complex systems. We watched videos about compost (organic fertilizer) and chatted on the subject. Then, one of our children made a presentation to their family to conduct a research on compost. Afterwards, we read Soso's compost book. Afterwards, we reviewed his book.

Stage 2: The process of getting the necessary materials: Collecting together with the children their waste, tree branches, dried leaves, various pieces of paper, pieces of cardboard, egg boxes, fruit shells, walnut shells, nut shells, etc.

STAGE 4: We mixed the compost we prepared every 3 days. After 6 weeks, we used the fertilizer we prepared to grow our plants and vegetables provided by the school.
