Hello again!
I hope you had fun making your jungle drum! Well today, we are going to be making another instrument to add to our special box. Can you guess what it is? A jungle shaker!

Before we get started, let's sing our color song
Look at the colors you are wearing and
be sure to stand up when your
color is called!

Now, I hope you have your musical box out and ready to use your drum?

Let's take the drum and your drumsticks and place them on the floor or the table.

Can you tap out 4 steady beats on your drum? Let's try it together. Ready? 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - Let's try it again! 1 - 2 - 3 - 4

Now can you say "Jungle beat" and then tap your drum 2 times? Listen to me first and then you can try it.

Try walking around the house with your drum and tap out 4 steady beats.

Next try saying "Jungle beat" and tap out just 2 beats at the end.

Now are you ready to make another instrument for our box? Watch these 2 videos to give you some ideas on how to make your jungle shaker.

Did you notice that when you put different things in your shaker, you hear different sounds? Some sounds were higher, and some sounds were lower. Did you notice anything else about the different sounds when you shake your shaker?

Now it is your turn to decide which instrument you would like to play first with our "Jungle Beat" chant. Whether you pick the drum or the shakers, play along on the last 2 beats of each line of our chant. I will play the drum so you can hear how it goes.
