We are now in our 2nd official month of our VILS program here at Grantosa. Here are a few reminders of how to be a responsible Digital Citizen.
* Charge your VILS Chromebook every night and bring it to school everyday inside the protective carrying case.
* Refrain from drawing on or applying stickers to the Chromebook. These are school property.
*Only use your LTE data when a safe, WIFI signal cannot be accessed.
* Visit ONLY school approved websites.
*Refrain from video and music streaming for personal use.
*Demonstrate your creativity while working on some of the programs introduced such as Book Creator, WeVideo and Adobe Spark.
Let's work together to provide a safe digital environment for our Dragons!
For our Guardians
The digital world can be a fun and engaging place for your scholar to explore. Please continue to monitor their use of their VILS Chromebook to ensure they are using it safely and responsibly. Please assist them with monitoring their usage. Although this device allows them to express their passion and voice in our digital world, we want to make sure they are occupying their minds and bodies in other ways, too. Make sure your scholars are taking breaks from their screens. As the saying goes, "To much of a good thing," can have the negative effect.

Thank you for all your support with providing your scholar with a safe and responsible experience with the VILS program.

Review of Chromebook expectations and care.
Expectations Refresh

All students are to bring their school issued, VILS device home every night to complete homework. These devices must be charged and brought back everyday to be used in the classroom.

Students must refrain from using LTE data for non-educational purposes. Streaming videos and music uses a lot of data which is needed for educational purposes.

Parents must monitor how much screen time their scholar is engaging in while at home. If you are struggling to develop a screen time balance with your scholar, please reach out to Grantosa's VILS Coach for assistance. Or, please join us for our parent night on February 9th from 6pm-7pm to collaborate with VILS coaches and other parents. We will be discussing how to create a healthy digital environment for our MPS scholars.

Device care/management

~Devices must be charged every night.
~Devices should be charged on a table/shelf. Do not charge devices on the floor or on seats as they are more likely to be stepped or sat on causing damage to the device.
~Devices must be transported to and from school everyday using the school issued case.
~Refrain from eating or drinking while using the device. It is difficult to remove food particles from under the keyboard. Damage caused by food or liquids is not covered under the device's warranty and can result in a fee for device repair or replacement.
~Refrain from using chemical cleaners to wipe the screen of your VILS device. Use a soft (microfiber cloth), slightly dampened cloth to clean the screen of the device.
