Dear Máthair,
I miss you so much. It has only been a couple hours but it feels like days. I really hope America was worth all this wait. I'm in line to board the boat and it is starting to get cold. There are so many families in front of me that it makes me miss you so much more. The boat is arriving! I'm so scared and excited. The line is moving up to the boat. It’s almost my turn to get checked to go on the boat. I have to stop writing it’s my turn. I’ll write to you again.
Your Daughter,
Maeve

Dear Máthair,
They just checked me and guess what. I can go on the boat! I'm so happy. They are bringing me on the boat and someone is taking me down to somewhere called steerage. Máthair when I looked around the room I thought it would be beautiful and be extra comfy. Instead I see a room filled with bunk beds and a lot of people. I get to sleep on the top bunk of a bed. There is a girl on the bottom bunk her name is Cara. We have been hanging out a little. Today for breakfast we had porridge. It was ok. My stomach is starting to hurt so I will take a nap. I’ll write again soon.
