GEOLOGY
¿How has this relief been formed?
It is formed in the almost cut off rock wall, at the end of Baquedano at aprox. 630 meters, compared to the more than 900 meters that the upper crest of the wall reaches. The evacuation of the water from Urbasa has shaped, for millions of years, the notch produced in the southern edge of the massif and that constitutes a rocky amphitheater of remarkable beauty.
¿Wich typical forms can we find there?
After the rocky amphithiater there are several cascades and pools full of turquiose water, wich predominates most of the year in the pools and its produced by the big amount of calcium carbonate and minerals originated by the dissolution of the rocks that the water deposites in the river.
What other important geological formations are in the area?
The Urederra river: a 90% of the evacuation of the water from the aquifer occurs throught it.
Then, a series of waterfalls with consequent turquoise blue; wich ,make this river beeing named "Urederra" that means "beutiful water" in Basque.
What type of rock predominate there?
This underground aquifer has been formed by the filtration of water through the limestone rock, which this mountain range is mainly formed and represents the largest water reserve in the foral community (Navarre).

ECOSYSTEM
Main abiotic and biotic factors:
-ABIOTICS: The water takes on a turquoise color thanks to the karst phenomenon that is formed thanks to chemical weathering.
- BIOTICS: Rock birds such as vultures, Egyptian vultures, hawks, swifts, kestrels and choughs stand out. There are also water blackbirds, chickadees, blue tit and finches. As mammals they are the wildcat, the marten, the badger or the wild boar. On the other hand, in flora we have; Ilos, oaks, rowan, maples, beech, ash, elm, trembling, willow, hazelnut, hawthorn, boxwood and juniper, among other species.
Which is the typical flora and fauna in this ecosystem?
In the Nacedero of Urederra the wide diversity of flora is remarkable, in this reserve we can find species such as linden, oak, rowan, maples, beech, ash, elm, trembling, willow, hazelnut, hawthorn, boxwood and juniper, among other species.

Regarding the fauna, there is a remarkable community of rock birds, in which we can differentiate vultures,
Egyptian vultures, hawks, kestrels, choughs and swifts.
Passerines abound, such as the water blackbird,
chickadees, blue tit and finches.
What effect has the climate on the area?
The northem part of the Sierra de Urbasa and Sierra de Andía is the wettest part and where it rains the most of the entire extension, and it is the area with the most rainfall in the entire “Region of Urbasa Estella".
What effect does the human has in the ecosistem?
Due to overexploitation, today the Nacedero of Urederra is a natural reserve and a protected area.
To visit it you have to pay money and also you can only visit it since nowadays bathing is prohibited.
Years ago it was open to everyone like any other place but it is now protected to prevent its disappearance.
