My eyes open slowly, but I hear no sound. Why can I no longer hear the sound of clashing swords? Where am I? Where has everyone gone? I touch the back of my head and feel blood. When I finally get to my feet, which took a while, I start to look around the floor. It’s full of dead bodies covered in crimson blood. As I start to walk around, I realise that all of my friends are no longer here. Suddenly, my eyes get blurry and I see a person standing in front of me. Is it a real person or is it me going crazy? Why has this even happened?

Life has changed a lot since King Walter came into power. When King Arthur was king, the village was full of laughter and joy. Sadly, one day he died. Now that King Walter, who is King Arthur’s son, is King, the village is sad and lonely because he doesn’t let them live there own lives. All he does gives them orders and make them work. Every day, up on the hill, King Charles, who is from the neighbouring kingdom, and his knights train as hard as they can. The reason they are training is because they are getting ready to battle King Walter’s brutal knights. Charles and his army know how important this battle is to everyone. I stand there watching them, thinking, I need to help them how can’t I? Without hesitation, I walk up the hill and ask, “Can I join your cause?”

A few day’s later, after hours and hours of training with others knights, King Charles approaches proudly. As soon as I saw him, I knew this was the time we had been waiting for. “It’s time to face the cruel, strong King Walter and his fierce knights” he explains.
That night, I could not sleep a wink. All I could think about is if we were going to win or lose. Last night was long, I don’t think I got any sleep. Eventually, it was morning and all I could think about was defeating King Walter. I walked over to weapon keeper and chose the crossbow and a sword. The crossbow could shoot arrows towards the approaching army from far away and the sword could attack enemies close up. As I approach the battlefield slowly, with my sword, crossbow and my shield by my side, I think to myself, am I going to survive or not?
It is a hot summer’s day. It is hot out and the dew on the grass is disappearing. I am boiling under all of this armour. I can feel the sweat dripping down my face. I grab my crossbow so tightly that my hand starts to hurt. I start thinking to myself. Have I made a mistake joining this cause? Should I have just kept my nose out? I carry hope in my heart that we can still win this war. Both armies face each other in silence. Both kings glared at each other. We are at the bottom of the hill, which isn’t good because they would have more speed charging at us. However, I hope that we win. As we waited, King Walter yells in anger, “Charge!” From this moment on, I knew everything was going to change.
As the both armies charge at each other, both sides start fighting. Suddenly, I see a spear firing at me so I block it with my shield. The shouting of commands is all I can hear. There are arrows flying everywhere. There are flags swaying in the wing. Dead bodies are scattered all over the floor. A few seconds later, I realise that we are winning. All of a sudden, I get hit in the leg, but luckily I have my sword and attack him. I fell to the ground, hit my head. I can’t see a thing.
My eyes open slowly, but I hear no sound. Why can I no longer hear the sound of clashing swords? After what feels like a lifetime, my vision slowly starts to focus. I struggle to my feet and start to look around the field. There are dead and injured knights all around me. One thing I still need to find out is if we’ve won or lost. I begin to walk to my village, with hope that King Charles is are new King. As I get to the village, there are many in tears. Is it because King Charles has lost or not? There is still one thing I need to know, who is the new ruler? I start to walk to the castle to find out. Finally I arrive. Suddenly, the doors open slowly and I hear a deep voice that said, “I can’t believe you’re still alive.” I realise that is was King Charles. Eventually, the village is happy and the darkness has gone.
