My eyes open slowly, but I hear no sound. Why can’t I hear no cannon balls firing, swords clashing and 10,000 screams? What has happened to me? A minute later, I can feel severe pain coming from my thigh and I see crimson blood dripping from a deep cut. As I walk through the battlefield I see a thousand bodies covering the floor. Then I start to think to myself, have we won or lost this fight?
Life has changed a lot since King Arthur came into power. He never gives the innocent villagers a break. He is evil and bossy but everyone thinks he is like that because he lost his father. Since he came into power we work and work. King Tristan, who is from a neighbouring kingdom, wants to fight for us and return our freedom. I look up at the hill that King Tristan is training on. Without hesitation, I walk towards King Tristan and ask bravely, “Can I join your cause?”
A few days later, after hours and hours of training with the other knights, King Tristan approaches us proudly. King Tristan tells us that we can beat King Arthur’s army and we all feel confident.
That night, I could not sleep a wink. I look outside and the sky is black with not a star in sight. I lay there thinking about all the training will did yesterday with our weapons. The blacksmith had given me a mace and a shield for defence. Shivers go down my spine and I start to think, are we going to win? Am I going to die?
Now, it is a hot summer’s day and the sun is shining on to the dew on the grass. It is starting to disappear due to the sunlight appearing over the hill. In my armour, it is sweaty because the sun is getting hotter. Then I see King Arthur and his army walk up the hill. We face each other and nobody says a single word. It look like we are frozen in time. I hold on to mace and shield really hard. My hands go really numb because I’m really nervous. I think I won’t make this, I won’t stay alive. It’s been a while and not a word has been said. Suddenly, King Arthur shouts, “Attack!” From this moment on, I knew everything was going to change.
