Thoughts of a Theatre Class
Dear North Black Masque Friends and Family,
First of all we would like to thank all of you for support throughout this unusual theatre experience. Without support from the entire Northside community, this program would not be possible.
We bring you this virtual performance as a way to share our experiences. Each performer was challenged to explore their individual stories and identity.
The actors used spoken word poems as the platform for the devised pieces. They first studied several other spoken word poets to help them understand the genre. The students also participated in a guest artist session with Alejandro Jimenez, an award winning spoken word poet, and former North Denver Educator.
The Black Masque Theatre would like to thank Alejandro for sharing his creativity and passion. You are truly an inspiration!
We would also like to thank Joe DeRose and Scott Wolf for continued support of the program and cultivating the continued growth.
Lastly, I would like to thank all the students. I feel blessed to have such amazing individuals that are willing to share their lives and talents with me. Believe me I learn more from you than you can ever learn from me! Heart you all!
